I have a new Magnovox 15mf227B/27 HDTV but I don't have a manual. When I hook it up to cable i can hear the sound but the picture is really dark and almost impossible to see. what now?

You may have a burnt out blacklight... You can fix it easy by having the tv on while it’s a bright picture than quickly unplugging it... or it would be best to get a new TV.
No this set does not have a bulb, it has three crts, one is green, red blue, and if the colors are seperated this sounds like you have an issue with the convergence, this is common and will require service. If you want to attempt the repair you will need to repalce the two stk392 ic's on the left hand board looking from the back. They are not user servicable. If you are not experienced it electroinic repair i would suggust to get it serviced by a pro.
using the magnovox remote, reprogram the vcr's channels. set it up to use cable not air. when the vcr was unlugged it lost it's channel memory. don't buy new cables, you're getting a picture and sound so that means your rca cables are ok.
Dark picture? hmm. meaning there is no brightness variation, assuming this is the fault I think U might be having low screen voltage. Check for high value ( around 2W) resistor, preferably from 100K to 680K on the "C" board or neck board. Post back Rifaa
