Remote only registers on 1/2 of the tv screen.

When you point the remote at the tv it only works on the left 1/2. I have replaced the batteries, checked all of the connections, cleaned the sensors, and even moved the sensor on top of the tv.

Remote inop

Step 1:

Have thee remote tested--most shops will do this for free--point remote at the tester and it will react when buttons are pressed on the remote.

Step 2:

A digital camera in many cases can also be used for this---in a very dark room point remote at the camera with the camera on---press buttons and look for a tiny flash of light on the camera display screen.

Step 3:

If remote tests bad it can usually be taken apart and fixed OR you can opt for a new remote---I would avoid universal remotes as they often if program will be missing key and needed button/features.

In our shop we fix remotes with a 10 dollar max price--lots we fix for free.

Step 4:

Last but not least if the remote tests good the remote receiver inside the front of the set may be bad and a shop would have to replace that unless you are able.

Here is a photo of the typical receiver (less than 1/2 inch tall part).

Remote will not control the tv. batteries is good, but nothing happen when pointing at the tv five feet away. what is cause/

hi, it could be either 1 of 2 things.
1.remote is faulty, if the remote used to work but now doesntand you are sure the batteries are good, its probably not that.
2. a faulty IR / Remote Control Sensor Board . very common problem with an easy cheap replacement. here is a link to one for $20, just remove the back of the tv and remove and replace the new board. be careful when working inside the tv, lots of fragile things in there!

Can't seem to switch to input with the remote or go to any channel to use my DVD player

Hello

Check first if the Remote Control hanset emits infrared rays or not. Infrared rays are invisioblw to us. There is an easy way to check it. if you have a cellphone with camera option, set it to camera mode, and place the remote hanset against its lens about 1 feet away or so, and press each button on the remote control. You can see the infrared indication on the screen of your cellphone.
If it is Ok, just reset the remote control.

You might need to reset the remote: remove batteries and press the number 1 button for at least 60
seconds. Release the 1 button, replace the batteries, and (if necessary) program the remote again.

Check also for

Something might be between the remote and the remote sensor on the component. Make sure there is a

clear path.

• Maybe the remote isn't aimed directly at the component (DVD, TV, VCR) that you're trying to operate.

• Maybe remote is not in TV Mode. Press the TV button so remote will control TV.

• Maybe batteries in remote are weak, dead, or installed incorrectly. Put new batteries in the remote. (Note,
if you remove the batteries, you may have to reprogram the remote to operate other components.)

How to Use the Remote Control to Complete

the Initial Setup

The technical term is "Navigation"- how you move through the

on-screen menus. The method is the same throughout the menu

screens: highlight your choice and select it.

To highlight a menu item, press the arrow buttons on the remote

to highlight one of the items listed on the screen. Use the up or

down arrow button to move up or down. Use the right or left

arrow button to move right or left.

To select the item that you've highlighted, press OK.

Note: Highlighted means that the menu item stands out from other
menu items on the list (appears darker, brighter, or a different color).

Turn on the TV

Press TV on the remote, or press POWER on the TV's front panel.

Note: Pressing the TV button not only turns on the TV, but puts the remote

into TV mode. "TV mode" means that the buttons on the remote control

operate the TV's functions.

Complete the Initial Setup

The menu system in your TV allows the TV's features to work

properly. The first time you turn on your TV, the SETUP screen

appears with Language highlighted. The default language is

English. To choose another language, press the right arrow
button on the remote.

If these doesn't work, the infrared sensor inside your Tv has got damaged and should be replaced. OK.

My 32" sharp lcd doesn't respond to the remote

Ok I just dealt with the Sharp customer support for this problem. 1) You need to unplug the TV for 1 full minute and remove the batteries from your remote aswell (this will reset the system)
2) Hold the power button on the remote for 30 seconds with the batteries still out of the remote and the TV still unplugged
3) After the 30 seconds replace batteries then press every button on the remote beginning with the power button in order from left to right and top to bottom (same way you read)
4) Then plug your tv back in and try the remote again.... and the remote and TV should be back in sync.

Directv remote code for polaroid tv

Slide top button on remote to tv. Press and hold mute and select button until the green light on the remote blinks twice. Then press 991. Then press 1. Then press the tv power button once. If the tv doesn't respond hit the channel up button on the remote. If that works press select to store the code and slide the switch back to the left. If it doesn't work keep hitting channel up until it does. It can take up to 30 minutes but it works.

You can also try to take out the batteries and push all of the buttons with the batteries out of the remote. Then put the batteries back in and push the power button on the remote. If this doesnt work press the two TV buttons at the same time and the remote should be fine.
