Question about Independent Inc. Low Profile Heat Lamp Seamed Construction Wall Model - LPHL- Kitchen Hood

1 Answer

Bathroom heat lamp stopped working.

The heat lamp in our bathroom won't turn on, after working reliably for about 3 years - the bulb works in other lighting fixtures so is not a bulb problem and all the bathroom fans and lights go on too, no obvious issues with the power panel or supply... any ideas what could be wrong?

Lamp, fan and lights are all on seprate switches in this bathroom.

Thanks a lot in advance for any advice you can offer.

Lights have stopped working on my whirlpool extractor hood at the same time. Bulbs are ok and fan works. Model AKR 906. Please help.

first check the lamps in another device since it some times shows its ok bur actually it is not.then look for false connections and at last the holders if the lamps went out one by one.if all together then it must be the switch.

I turned the lights on the high setting for a couple of hours, and the bulb just blew out. I then touched the top of the hood and it was very hot. Should a bulb blow out for no reason? I am worried that...

Check the documentation and make sure the wattage on the light bulb does not exceed what is recommended. For instance: Mine says no more than 75 watts incandescent light bulb.

How do you replace the light bulbs? There is a lens cover over the bulb.

This is how to replace the lights on the KitchenAid khlu162m hood. If this is not you hood please give the right make and model # so I can get you the right info.

Replacing the Halogen
lamps:
The hood liner uses 12-volt, 20
watt halogen lamp bulbs.
Before you begin, make sure that
the range hood is turned off and
that the lamps have had sufficient
time to cool.
To replace a halogen lamp:
• Remove 2 screws from the
circular metal trim around the
lamp assembly.
• Pull the trim with the lamp
assembly attached down far
enough so that the lamp can be
pushed out of the socket clips.
• Insert the new lamp into the
socket clips and push the lamp
and trim assembly back up into
the hood.
• Replace the screws.

Good Luck and please rate 4 thumbs up for the free answer.

What bulb do I use to replace bulb under microwave MH1170XSQ-3

You can use a standard appliance lamp 25 or 40 watt unless this is a special lamp. If it is a special (remove it to determine) you will have to replace it i kind.

Bulb blew, now cannot turn off any bulb

the lamps are controlled by a triac that is probably mounted on the control board ... its not unusual for light bulbs to draw extremely high currents as they burn out ... thats because the melting tungston forms a plasma that arcs at very high current levels until a fuse or lead wire burns off inside the lamp ..thats why you see such a bright flash as they burn out .. ..as i recall lamps of 60 watts or greater have to have a built in fuse in the base ... lamps of lower wattage are not forced by law to have that .. so when they burn out they can easily damage external electronics .. so your problem is a shorted triac .. thats a transistor like device that is often used for lamp brightness control .. you can replace the entire control board $$$ or just the defective triac (like $2) .. the bad triac will read shorted between main termanals 1 and 2 on an ohm meter ...(power off of course) .. a normal one will read open ... its likely soldered in place and may have a heat sink attached ... thats an easy job for an electronic person ..

Replaced light bulbs but no light

Original bulb has a JDR designation. I ordered bulbs and received bulbs with a JDRC designation, the brand was Hikari--these bulbs were shorter than the original bulbs and will not seat properly even after removing filters and turning bulbs by the neck of the bulb (porcelain section). Since they won't seat completely in the socket there is no electrical contact and they won't work.

Kenmore elite ranghood (series# 550) not working

unplug the unit and unscrew the bulbs. put 2 new in if they still dont work then you may have fried the control. there are usually no fuses between the control and light/fan. well i never saw a fuse between the 2.

Light doesn't work on Kenmore Model 55022 Range hood...

If you're getting 120V at the lampholders, yet it's not lighting lamps that still work perfectly well in other fittings, two possibilitiesspring to mind.

One is that the cap on the bulbs isn't quite compatible with the fitting. Assuming they're some variant of Edison Screw, make sure that the centre terminal in the lampholder is sticking out far enough to touch the terminal on the bulb. Also check whether the lampholder achieves it's outer connection just with a small tab, rather than with the whole of the threaded ring. If so, make sure that this is going to touch the appropriate part of the bulb.

The other possibility is that you've got a high resistance connection somewhere - not enough of an open circuit to drop the 120 V when feeding the Megohm load presented by a meter, but more than enough to kill the supply when you have a lamp load. Only way to chase this is to use the meter on ohms range to bell out all the wiring between the lampholders and bits of the system which do work properly.

Halogen Lights Failing

I had the same experiences with my lights. I placed a 50v bulb and it blew the fuses. The fusees located on the right side of the bottom duct cover. use 5a 125 v fuse GE part # wb27x10542 but you can find a cheaper fuse at Radio Shack. Good luck

Light blown then fan doesn't work!

take out switch assemby and check if the track of the pcb is blown - caused by the bulb goiung. you can often repair by soldering in wire links. bet you have 12a fuse in system - should be 3a. track has blown instead of the fuse
