HL-P5063W vibrating and won't turn on

Last night I was watching my DLP and the colors went all crazy. It's hard to explain exaclty but there was a lot of purple and red. I turned it off to reset it and now it won't turn back on. There is a loud vibrating noice coming from the back and the lamp light flashes, and it wil then shut itself back down and try to power up again. Eventually all three lights on the front power button will start to flash but the screen will not turn on, any ideas? i have the same problem...I left my tv on overnight and when i woke up the color was all flashy and off...all three lights just flash and i replaced the bulb only to recieve the same low buzzing noise and no power up on tv. mine is a samsung hl-r5067w.

I have had this happen to me several times in the field, and if it is what i think it is, you are not going to be happy =(

inside of a DLP type TV, there is a device called a 'color wheel'... it is essentially a disc made up of different colored glass that spins really fast. this disc has 3 or 6 (depending on make/model) pieces of colored glass like pieces of a pie affixed (read: glued) to a hub.

what happens sometimes is that one of the pieces of colored glass flys out of the hub, and causes a massive unbalance in the spinning wheel, which causes the hum/vibration, and since the colored glass is missing, the colors will be all messed up.

if this is what happened, then your television will require a new DLP engine.

I have Samsung DLP TV 50 inch HL-P5063W

First thing to look at is the color wheel this model uses--usually it will make a high pitched fan like sound but can make a grinding sound also.

If it slows down from the 12,000 or so RPM speed it will cause color issues.

HAVE GRINDING OR HIGH PITCHED SOUND?

Tv turns off after watching an hour - then proceeds to turn off every 15 to 20 minutes there after

Hi if your tv is a DLP or LCD and you hear clicking or like wanting to turn on ,most likely its an issue with the ballast which is the board that powers the lamp.(Discard if tv is )If you hear buzzing or spinning noises it could be you color wheel. Also check if fans are running ok or if they are dusty, clean them with an air pressure can if they are dirty. It could also be time to replace the lamp.they normally last 6000-8000 hrs if it's a Philips brand if it's na Osram lamp they will last 4000-5000 hrs 1-2 yrs.God bless you!

Samsung HLS4266W 43" dlp

Power issues (Tv not turning on) were typically due to faulty ballast. While the TV reports a bad lamp it is the ballast itself causing the issue. Samsung is well aware and will replace both the ballast and the lamp (since the lamp can be prematurely aged but the bad ballast). After replacment most people stop having issues.

Samsung DLP loud vibrating noise

The color wheel is the most common problem in DLPs that cause noise. To determine the cause: Turn the set off. If the noise goes away after about five seconds, then, the problem is the color wheel. If the noise goes away one to two minutes after shut off, then, the problem is a fan. You can find an Authorized Servicer in your area that can tell you the price of repair, by clicking on the Samsung link: http://www.samsung.com/Support/ServiceLocations/index.htm
