SOURCE: TUMBLE DRYER DOES NOT GET HOT

Hi, - The first thing to do is UNPLUG THE DRYER! Then remove the heater cover situated on the back panel. It is the curvey shaped panel.
Remove all the screws and the panel may be slightly stuck - just prise it off.

Next - there are 2 small screws holding the heater and thermostats assy onto the back panel. - Remove these to free the assy from the back panel. Be careful not to touch the elements as they break easily.

The problem is probably the Thermostats.

The one on the left is the Overheat Thermostat - You will notice a small hole in the centre of the thermostat. Take a Pin and push it firmly into the hole and you may hear the Stat "click". That has re-set the stat.
Re-assemble the Dryer being careful with the elements.

Now - Why has it tripped? If it has overheated it is because of one or all of the following.

1. The Condenser unit is getting blocked - Remove and clean under running water like a hosepipe or tap.
2. The door filter is not being cleaned
3. Sometimes opening the door to check if the clothes are dry and then not allowing the dryer to cool down can cause the problem. Always allow it to go through the cool down process.

Hope this helps. The Heater and the Thermostats are available as Spares - Terry

Before ripping into the dryer, with the dryer running, check the vent outside. There should be a rather strong air flow. I'll bet you have little or maybe no air flow. Check behind the dryer to make sure you don't have squished flex duct. If you have flex pipe, try running the dryer for a few minutes with the dryer pulled out into the room to stretch the vent out, and check outside airflow again. Try to eliminate all or as much of the flex stuff as you can, replacing it with aluminum dryer vent pipe. (tape joints with foil duct tape) Clean out remaining dryer vent. (there are special brushes you can buy to clean out vents, but they really only work on ridgid pipe.)

SOURCE: Hotpoint ctd00G will not heat up

Hi,
This is most likely the thermostat switch or possibly the heating element itself.
One or the other is likely needing replacement.
If you are competent at electrical repairs, and have a test meter; Unplug and move to allow access.
Undo rear top screws and remove lid.
Heating element is usualy on top. Disconnect leads and check continuity of switches and element.
Replace switches with similar if either are open circuit. Available as spares from online parts centres.
Heating element should read in the low Ohms - around 20 - 35 Ohms if Ok, otherwise replace.

ONLY ATTEMPT REPAIRS IF COMPETENT (I have to say that)

SOURCE: tumble dryer spins, but doesn't heat up

You need an ohm meter to do needed checks. Unplug dryer from power,,, then look for sensors and locate the heat coils. Using the ohm meter, check each device by connecting meter to the posts ( your looking for an open curcuit) Note that when you touch the leads of the ohm meter together, the gage will move? This is closed condition, and if the needle did not move, this is called "open". When you find a sensor or heat coil that reads open, that part is bad.
Now make sure there is not a tripped breaker in the fuse panel of the house,,, because even though the dryer is 220 volt,,, 110 volt runs the tumble motor while the other 110 volt curcuit runs the heat side ( so one will work without the other)

Dryer has stopped spinning was making a slight wooing noise but will not spin, i can spin it manually by hand but will not spin when plugged in

You need to check the power to the motor when the dryer is started, if there is no power then the program controller is a suspect and must be checked.
If there is power to the motor - motor warms up then the capacitor to the motor must be checked.
