Question about Canon PIXMA MP600 all-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

MP600 won't print black

I see this is a common problem, but am not really sure what to do as far as the cleaning suggestions. How do I get my black printing again? All cartridges have been replaced with new ones.

Martinb75,

Go into printers from your start menu or through the control panel. Locate your printer and right click over the top of it. At the bottom of the scroll down you will see "properties". Open this. In the lower part of the first tab you will see preferences and print a test page. Open the preferences. The last tab is the maintenance tab. in here you will find two types of head clean. use the general clean (the first button) first. Print a nozzle check to see if this has fixed your issue. if not, repeat once more. If no success do a deep clean and print the nozzle check.
If after this you still have no luck, allow the head to park and allow to sit for 24 hours. check and clean again. If still no luck, your print head will require replacement and will need to go to your local canon service center,

My Canon printer does not print the color black, how can I fix?

If you have tried cleaning the nozzles as Oliver suggested. Try setting your paper type to 'high resolution' and try printing. If this works, your circuit board is probably the problem and you need to replace the printer after using up your inks in the 'high resolution paper' print mode

Printer prints fine so far as text, but a black and white photo has streaks in it. Black Ink level shows it isn't low

Try to clean the printhead nozzles. From the printer operator panel, press the Setup button > Maintenance > Deep Clean Printhead. Your printer will then print a test page forcing ink through the cartridge nozzles and clean them. Try to print your photo again to verify that the print quality has improved.
Also, make sure your printer is udpated. Please visit the Lexmark website to download and install the Lexmark Pro200 Series Firmware Update. The update will help give you a highly reliable print system.
If that doesn't help, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for additional assistance.

Problem: Black ink is missing a horizontally. Does print completely. Solution Tried: Cleaning the ink cart., as indicated for printing errors, but didn't fix the problem. Please suggest alternative...

I suggest that you try a full cleaning again. The printer heads for these units are really prone to clogging. If that doesn't work, then that means that there is a defective resistor inside that head and you need to replace the head which is pretty costly almost near the cost of buying a new printer.

try cleaning print head and nozzles and align the Print Head. If nothing the problem may be with your printer itself

Will print in any color but black

As far as I remember HP's have no "plunger" to clean.... what happens when you print in black. (making this a solution but will keep working with you until I figure it out)

Will not print in black

Sounds like a driver configuration. Go to control panel, then printers and right-click properties on the Canon icon, try reverting to default print settings or make sure you are not forcing color printing. Lastly, try printing from a simple program such as notepad - maybe your software inputs color to the printer.
