If the top of the drain hose is to low, the machine will begin siphoning out the water once the water reaches the height of the bend in your drain hose. Solution - Attach the curve of the drain hose to the top back of the machine above the height of the water level in the machine. You may need to extend the drain hose if their isn't enough play in the hose. If this does not solve your problem. More information would be needed to give you other possible solutions.

One other possibility is that the drain hose is to tight in the stand-pipe and it is also creating a vaccum and siphoning out the water. Your local hardeware store should carry an anti-siphon valve that can be installed in the drain hose to fix the problem. Good Luck

Check and make sure your drain hose is as high as 2/3 hight of washer ,,, if not it will drain as it fills ,, also make sure the drain hose is free and not down in the drain pipe to far / larry

My Kenmore 700 series washer has been leaking water. When the tub is filling with water, water seems to leak along the front bottom edge of the machine in several areas. I'm left with a huge puddle of...

First ck to see if your water pump is leaking. It normally leaks when the machine is running not just filling. Also look at all the attaching rubber hoses under the machine and see if water is leaking down the back right side of the machine and then running around the frame to the front long shot but possible.

Kenmore washing machine fills and pumps out but does not agitate or spin. The model is a 970-C29052-00 Serial #XL94933842. Thanks, Tim

Hi Tim and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly.

I will be replying 2 times here but wanted to send this first one now so you can possibly check the lid switch. The machine will fill and pump out but if the lid switch is not functioning it will not agitate or spin.

As you just open or close the door or lid you should hear an audible click from the micro-switch. If you do not hear that click, The lid switch has a problem. (loose or failed)

The model number does not cross:

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieve.pd?modelNumber=970-C29052-00&=part+number&pathTaken=partSearch
Search results: "970-C29052-00" We're sorry. No exact or partial matches were found.
This is a common lid switch:

http://www.appliancepartspros.com/Appliance-Parts/WHIRLPOOL-Lid-switch-assembly-item-number-AP3100003.aspx

but may not be yours due to the model number issue.

There are 2 other possibilites also. One being the water level control or pressure switch and the timer assy. Most of the time the lid switch is the failure.

Thanks for using FixYa,

Kelly

Kenmore Front Load Washer filling up and giving LF warning

The FL error code means:
Flood Condition:
FL flashes if any overfill condition occurs. This condition occurs when excessive water in the tub causes the overfill switch to trip. The control must realize that the trip was due to an overfill condition instead of a suds lack condition in order for FL to be displayed

With an overfill condition, the beeper repeats a warning every 10 seconds with no time-out. The pump is cycled in drain mode for 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off until the overfill switch resets or power is discontinued to the unit.

Press STOP/CANCEL to clear the display.

This problem I see on these are the water pumps getting clogged with lint or other things, causing the pump not to pump all of the water out at times.

There is a check "valve" in the drain assembly that seems to sometimes cause problems with the FL error code. You can remove this piece, and might avoid changing the pump.

Kenmore 70 Series Washing Machine Drains, But Won't Spin

Yes sir, a bad motor coupler could cause the machine not to spin. You did the right thing in checking out the lid switch and the pump first. It sounds as if the motor coupling is worn and may be slipping. I will attach a link to a video that may assist you. Hope this helps and best wishes.

Leak top load kenmore

Excellent use of your deductive reasoning skills. You may be right on both assumptions. It is not uncommon for the pump or the drain hoses to develop leaks over a period of time. You will need to remove the outside casing of the washer, however to get a good look. This link explains how to replace the washer pump:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r397092-replacing_water_pump

Even if it is not the pump, it gives you necessary steps on how to disassemble the washer. Step 7 of the write up tells you where the pump is located. Inspect the two hoses for cracks and leaks as well.

NOTE: You will need to by-pass the lid switch, however, with the case removed in order to fill the washer with water. Or...you can fill the wash tub partially, shut the unit off, unplug the washer and remove the case and look for the leak that way as well. Let me know if you wish to attempt to by-pass the lid switch - this does not involve cutting and splicing any wires.

If you require further assistance please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.
