Question about Lexmark X73 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Paper will not go through properly

When trying to copy, the paper drops down to the proper position when it starts to copy but then it stays in the same spot while it is printing. About halfway through printing the paper starts to move again and finishes. The print on the copy is all at the top of the paper and blurry.

Thanks for your help. Bob Kincart

pape will not go though printer

  • Anonymous Dec 22, 2008

Paper feeds half-way, begins printing, but paper will not advance. After the icon displays about 60% to 100% of printing job, the printer will not advance the paper and paper jam announcement is relayed.

Upon pressing paper feed the printer seems to lock up. I have removed every paper that I can find, but I have no way of disassembling the unit to find if any paper pieces are left in the machine. All the paper has come out without tearing (complete) for this last job attempt. I have no way of knowing what is locking up the unit, preventing the paper from properly advancing during the printing job.

Hp Officejet 6500 won't feed paper

The 'drop down paper grabber' gears are not turning, and the printer gives you an error saying to make sure there is paper in the printer.
All of the fixes on the internet are for working printers, and their approach is to clean the rollers if they are not grabbing the paper. They are assuming they are turning properly and the rubber grabbing wheels are wither dirty of dried out.
In my case, however, the gears were not turning, and so the rubber grabbers wheels were not turning, even though the whole 'paper grabber' unit was dropping down properly
Just inside the paper loader tray, along the top, there is a metal rod. It is about 1 inch from the front.
The gears from the drop down paper grabber are supposed to meet a gear that resides on this rod and sort of floats on it. However, the gear on my printer slipped to the left, and was not making contact with the other gears.
You can gently put your finger on the gears as you do a copy command, and confirm this.
To fix the printer, I just slid the floating gear over to the right and into place, and the paper began feeding properly.
Why there is nothing to keep the gear in place is a mystery to me.

Is there a paper selection wheel or bar in the tray?

Some of the older Canon models have a dial (usually in the lower right hand corner of the tray) or a slider bar (usually on the left hand side of the tray) when you open it. That has to be set properly or the machine has no idea what size paper is there.

Cx3650 Problem with paper feeder

There could be an issue with the gear inside your printer now that is why it is not feeding the paper through properly anymore. Please try this basic troubleshooting steps:
Turn off the printer. Disconnect the USB cable from your printer. Open up the whole scanner unit to see if there are objects blocking the way of the printhead or if there are any objects down the paper feed area. Check if the cartridge cover is closed properly. Toggle the paper guide left to right back to the proper position. Load 10 to 20 sheets of regular paper into the printer. Turn the printer back on. Do a standalone copy.

Tray2 Paper emty message after swapping out tray2 pickup roller

Your problem is more than likely that the sensor lever is not properly positioned. You may also have dislodged the shaft from the drive gears (gears on right out side of carriage). Both are easy to do.

Here's a couple pictures of the exact positioning of the paper sensor positioning. It should freely flip up and fall back down with gravity. Remove the tray and check the flag that hangs down.

Just in case you have dislodged the shaft from the geartrain, here's a free copy of the HP Service manual for the printer that will walk you through disassembling the right side for re-mounting the shaft and holder clip for the shaft.

Hope that helps you. :)

Paper Jam light

Make sure paper is loaded properly (pushed down under the end clips.) There could be a small piece stuck in the rollers somewhere. Look from the side door.
