No spark I took the spark plug out, cleaned it then replaced it and still wouldn't start...getting plenty of fuel to the carb.. I thought it was flooded.. but still won't start after numerous tries. I took the plug out again and pulled with the starter rope.. could not see any spark at all.. looks like the right spacing on the spark plug. Any ideas?

Try changing the spark plug. These two cycle engines are really rough on plugs.

SOURCE: Ran last year, won't start this year. Changed

It might have tipped over on its side. Look at the air filter, if you see oil or gas on the filter then you might have to remove and clean the carburetor. I would start by cleaning/replacing the air filter and trying it again. If its getting fuel and the spark plug works then the only other side of the fire triangle is air.

Has good compression, getting fuel, plenty of spark, wont start

Then either the fuel is bad or it's flooded. Dry the plug, crank it without the plug to fry the cylinder & start with starter fluid to replace fuel. If it starts. Clean & blow out the entire fuel system, lines, pump, carb. Good luck.

Homelite xl chainsaw won't start. I took out spark plug, put in some fuel and if fired right up. But won't run.

You need to clean out the carb. possibly replace the Needle Valve and check the Diaphram for stiffness. Also check the fuel line for cracks and rott.

Husqvarna weedeater overheating after unclogging exhaust

Were any of the cooling fins damaged? This is a totally air cooled unit, air flow and fins are required to keep the unit cool. Make sure the fins on the cylinder and head are clean, the blades on the coil are clean, also check the spark plug to make sure it is the recommended plug, is the muffler clear? check airfliter and always use pre-packaged fuels.
Only other cause would be the carb has been set to lean, but I doubt that.

If you have a good spark, and there is fuel at the plug, the only things to stop it fireing up are a sheared flywheel key knocking the timeing out, or the engine has low compression due to wear or damaged piston and ring.

My first thought would be: If you repaired an emissions hose, take the car back to Auto Zone (or another parts supplier) and let them tell you what code comes up now. You eliminated one problem, now you have to find another.

My Craftsman 17cc gas weed trimmer wouldn't start.

Hi There, Check the primer bulb for tare or pin holes. Replace it. Check and clean carb jet it maybe plugged with debree. Also check for spark which you didn't say. Replace with correct plug.
Note; Do not use strong cleaners on rubber seals (O rings and gaskets) They dry up and crack.
If needed use a dabble of grease on seals

Compression release stuck open? Do the plugs show spark? Is the slide in the carb moving up and down when you turn the throttle? Soak the carbs in denatured alcohol for 30 minutes, then clean them with spray carb cleaner. Remove the air screw and throttle screw on the carbs and spray into the holes. Reassemble and LIGHTLY seat the screws. Now open each one up one and one half turns. This is the factory setting. Install an in-line fuel filter to keep trash out of the carbs. Is the exhaust clear? Is the air filter clean? Some bikes have an oil level sensor > is the oil level in the gearbox where it should be?
