Hi,
I have seen all the comments made in reply to your problem. I also think there is a mechanical failure. Check if there is a small hole beneath the DVD tray. Take a office clip and straighten it. insert it gently inside the hole and gently push it.the disc should eject. While doing this procedure make sure your device is OFF and power supply removed.
But before that I want to ask that by any chance have you put a broken disc inside the device or did the device got a shock by any means(hitting/Dropping etc.) Mechanical problem is there for sure and if you are not qualified enough than an end user, I would very strongly recommended that you take it to the service center to avoid any more damage to the DELICATE device. May be the shop from where you bought can be also useful.
Please rate me appropriately if you are satisfied with my answer,in case, if you want any clarification please get back to me.

Its not do it yourself case, a lot mess can be end result.
DVD cameras are complicated and bit sensitive in handling.
I would recommend to take camera to repair shop for proper fix.

Hi 9542, I had the same problem with mine , turns out that the gear that ejects the dvd gets stuck and moves out of place sometimes, what i did is I had it replaced by warranty, but if you dont have warranty you might want to go in there and manually put the gear back in place and that will defenetly fix your issue.

Did you eject the disc when you had it plugged into the wall and not running on the battery source? If you did, take out the battery and plug it back in. Hopefully that will work.

Hi
The door might be stuck. Try "helping" it open manually after pressing the eject button. Otherwise, something is probably broken and you might have to call a repairman.

Try to tap on the dvd top and front side.if something is blocking it will eject.also shut off the device and then press the eject button and then on the device.press the eject button several times and try.if nothing helps u will have to open the device and check out for any blockage in gear assembly which moves the eject door.it is not very hard to open the device.just open the screws.

Then you need to manually open the camcorder to take out the dvd .

The dvd is stuck inside due to mechanical failure .

The button is stuck from inside .

I have the DZ-GX5020A DVD Cam....the disc eject door will not open.....I can hear it clicking trying to open, but no luck... everthing else works fine.......can you help me?

None of those options worked for me. I had to remove the single screw on top of the camera. Then slide the silver top panel forward to remove it. Then remove the dark panel where the screw was removed. Then you should see a small metal piece very close to the DVD door opening that is holding it closed. Slowly nudge it forward to unlatch the door. This allowed me to open the door to remove the DVD. Unfortunately I still have to do this every time to get the door open. I may try some lubricant on the metal to prevent sticking.

Installation cd for my cam

Looks like Hitachi doesn't have any software available on line to do it. You will have to contact them to get one.

You can use abobe software for free to try to get them or goto Kodak.com and use their free software as well.

If it doesn't see your camera as a disk drive in my computer, you can get a card reader to retrieve the pictures that way.

Heres the owners manual if you need one:

How do i play my dvd on a vista platform

I have the gx5020a camera, and found out that the VRO file is just MPEG2. So copy the VRO file onto your computer from your disc. Once its on your harddrive, you can right click on it and go to properties. Re-name your file from VRO to MPG, making sure that you still have the original VRO file in case you need it for other programs. Once I change it to MPG file name, I can use media player to play it and I have a DVD movie maker where i can edit and record to DVD.

How can I view the footage recorded on the DVD-Camcorder?

-Press ‘Play’ on the camcorder and review the footage on the 2.5” LCD screen -Connect the DVD-Camcorder to your television using the supplied Audio/Video cables -Download the file to your PC using the supplied USB 2.0 interface cable(not available on DZMV730A) and view it using a Windows MPEG Player application that supports DVD recording format (.vro file extension). -Finalize a DVD-R or DVD-RW disc and play it directly through a home DVD player.
