You need to check the device manager for any "!" symbols. They are most likely there for your audio and video drivers. This means that the current drivers installed are not compatible. See below for the correct drivers.

Why did my HP Pavilion ze2000 screen go black?

john79:

I know that you had a chat about this matter, and I hope that your issue was solved. However, I had made a note of it when I saw the chat go through. I was unable to help at that time, but remembered having seen something of this nature and wanted to follow through on it.

Although the ze2000 is not listed, other 2000 models are listed in the following link as defective - and recognized as such by HP - with this very specific defect. (Please see http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/fastFaqLiteDocument?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=18703&docname=c01087194.)

Again, if your issue has already been solved, congratulations. Otherwise, I hope that the information provided here will be of use to you, either in fixing the equipment problem yourself (perhaps with a BIOS update) or by convincing HP to do something about it. At least you would be armed with good solid documentation of their recognized issue!

If this information assists you in resolving the problem, please take a moment to rate the solution at a "FixYa" level. If you do not feel that you can rate at a "FixYa", please post back with more information regarding what has occurred subsequently and/or more details regarding the situation, and I will gladly help you until we have reached a definitive solution. Thank you for using and rating FixYa!

Dual (External) Monitors Hook Up for HP Pvillion zx5040us Notebook

Good day, Cyko!
Here is what microsoft has to say about that:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/hwandprograms/monitors.mspx
In reading through this, you'll note that they suggest that some docking devices, or a usb adapter for monitors may allow you to run multiple monitors.

Dell inspiron 9300 laptop monitor problems

Hey Chuck!
Sure sounds like a monitor problem. Wouldn't be the inverter. You could sure try to reseat the cables. One end or the other may have come a little loose. (He sez, with hope in his heart!) . Have included a link for you to get a copy of the service manual, just in case it would be of use to you.

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins9300/en/index.htm#online_documentation

If it is the monitor, you might try to hook up an external monitor, so that you could still use it. That would kinda defeat the portability function of the laptop, but would make it usable.

Good morning!
It sounds like your LCD display is bad and needs replaced. You can verify this by hooking up an external monitor. If the display is OK on that, then you probably need to go shopping for a new (or gently used) LCD assembly.
