Depends on what is your budget..the XPS M1530 from Dell is quite nice..has a dedicated graphics for games..see this
if games are going to be a major thing then you will have to get something like the XPS..if not then the Studio is quite a good buy..do remember that you may not be able to play all the games even on the XPS
hope this helps,do look at other brands like HP..

It depends of your study, If you are studying graphic design then you should care about the vga, specially the dedicated ram in it, else if you are studying programming "computer science..ets" you only care about the speed.

What are you opinions on the HP 2000-299WM laptop?

I've had a look at the specs on HP's website. This is a very average laptop. Hopefully you did not pay a premium price for it. The CPU is only an Intel Celeron - the minimum intel CPU i'd be buying these days is an i3 or an i5. Ram is only 3GB - standard these days is minimum 4GB, Video Card = onboard video - judging by the rest of the specs this would be very low end on board graphics chip - if you are a gamer of any kind - return it straight away. Ethernet card = 10/100, standard these days is Gigabit Ethernet, Hard drive is only 320GB - minimum standard should be AT LEAST 500GB.

If you are on a budget this would be fine i suppose however it is already a dinosaur in the laptop world. When buying things like laptops get the VERY BEST YOUR BUDGET CAN AFFORD. You will be wanting this to last you at least 2-3 years as this is a relatively large electronic investment.

I don't know what area of the world you live in - but here in australia I can purchase a laptop with almost double the specs you one has for just under $1000.

Do some research - write down a list of what you want in your laptop. You need to decide what you will be primarily using it for = business, work, gaming, general stuff like email etc What you use it for should determine what you need to purchase.

CPU
RAM
HARD DRIVE CAPACTIY = nothing less than 650 GB
VIDEO CARD
SCREEN SIZE and TYPE (17" widescreen led)

Check into tech support for the laptop - how difficult will it be to get the laptop serviced while it is under warranty. Do they fix it where you purchased it or do you have to send it away to the manufacturer and does the manufacturer pay for pickup and return.

Hewlitt Packard in general is not the best company to purchase laptops from. I'd be more inclined to be looking at IBM Lenovo if you are looking at using mainly for business or ASUS if you're using it mainly for gaming.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Best is to buy a new laptop with fast processor, plenty of RAM, & a powerful graphics adapter (preferably NVidia or ATI) with plenty of video memory. The exact choice will depend on how much you are willing to invest in these main components.

Just some suggestions, from the specs of the laptop, this looks more than enough to handle the game. If its a laptop you may try one of those "Chillers" that sit underneath the laptop, could also be a power problem. Let me know if this helps and be sure to do your homework and read product reviews on the Chiller!

Settings on my laptop to make RPG game run better

Not much can be done for gaming on laptops, unless you shell out over $2000 for a dedicated gaming laptop.

Ram could be a big issue, depending on how much you have. The screen resolution that you are playing at, the detail levels, and possible network connection speed can all contribute to a laggy game experience.

Try turning off any background services that you do not need when you are playing (ie. skype, iTunes, etc...), perhaps checking your video card to see if you have the latest drivers as well.

I have an ibm thinkpad t41 laptop i upgraded to a 1gig ram i want to know if the grapics card can be changed or upgraded . I am trying to run 7 wonders game and it freezes up

the graphics cards really cant be upgraded with out major work. The game you want to run needs 512 of dedicated video memory, not shared as a laptop uses.

Hope this helps,

Thanks,

Mark
