Why does my HTS-20 powered subwoofer make a low hum when plugged in, even turned off and not connected to the receiver and a louder hum when the subwoofer power is turned on?

I suspect the amplifier is damaged. This is not an easy repair to do unless you are well versed in audio electronics. I would recommend a repair shop to look at the subwoofer amplifier.

How do i connect to the tv so the tv sound comes out of the system

Check if you have HDMI port in both TV and Receiver. , if yes take HDMI out of your HTS to your TV HDMI input. HDMI handles the Audio out along with video. Or if your HTS has got pre-out then you can try inputing to your tv audio input.

Red power light blinking on my denon avr 1907, tried reset procedure, no speakers hooked up now and it still goes from green light to blinking red light and shuts off...Any clues?

This is a protection mode. The receiver protection circuit detects an internal problem like missing power supply voltage or blown channel and shuts down the receiver. You need to bring the unit to a repair facility.

Yamaha Cinema DSP Natural Sound System AV Receiver #RX-V459 was installed in 2005. It has never worked correctly. It sets on an open entertainment center. It has space all around, 2"on top and...

Are you saying the unit dies in 30 seconds at home but it works fine at Radio Shack?

Maybe you need to assess your power sourcing or any other condition that's unique.

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Eure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

HOW CAN I HOOK UP HOME THEARTER SYSTEM TO MY TV

Assuming (since you don't identify them) your RCA has at least one available analog stereo input and your TV has a analog stero-only output, just connect them with RCA cables, set the TV's output volume (if it has menu item for it) to FIXED so theTV volume doesn't affect the output, select the input on the HTS and you're good to go.

Another way might be to take the TV-related audio from the cable box straight to the HTS in whatever manner is the best quality. Digital would make mulitchannel audio possible.

Or name the devices involved, find the manuals and read up on your applicable options.
The video out side of a receiver only REQUIRES a simple video out connection so you can see the On Screen Display for managing it. Most manuals (which you DO have, right?) also recommend running all or some video sources through the receiver to the TV but I don't bother conencting video to my audio electronics or audio to my video electronics as it wastes cables, adds connections which could fail and adds virtually nothing to either medium.

Hearing my television through my home theater system

Without knowing anything about your TV receiver all I can assume is that the TV has a least an RCA analog audio OUT. Run that to any available analog input on the HTS. make sure the TV's audio controls (hidden in a menu somewhere) is set to Fixed so the TV volume won't affect the HTS volume. Then you can turn the TV speakers off and still listen through the HTS.

You'll only get stereo this way. Ideally, you would have a digital audio source for the TV audio signal.

Hold down the power button and unplug the unit. Now release the power button. Plug the unit back into the wall. Now press the button. The system should power up.

Well usually the best thing to do is unplug the unit from any power and leave it for about 2 hours to reset. that is a common problem when the unit has been played at a high volume or the speaker connection are not tight
