Try outputting a pdf of your document. Set up your page from the printer window and print from Acrobat Reader. Also check your network connection if you are on ethernet. AppleTalk work much better in mac osx tiger vintage mini mac. I have not tested all the printer drivers yet on the new mini mac Lion. But there is less of a compatibility issue if you convert your doc to a pdf file. Hope this helps. :-}

Hi pip,
check your mac properties, if it is a PC powerchip, you may have to enable "Rosetta" in the indesign applications properties folder.
this may resolve the file print size conversion process.
Rosetta is inbuilt in mac with this type of powerchip, and when activated, works in the background..
http://www.apple.com/rosetta/ this link will give u an insight
not sure this is your answer....cheers rooboy

Printing from InDesign on mac text is not consistent color, some letters paler than others

Check your separations preview, (>Window>Output>Separations Preview). Most likely the colors you have set up are not correct. You will need to identify the problematic colors and address them within your swatch palette. Very common problem.

STEVE you have to print it as a tiled image. there is an update on the epson website for this issue. basicly anything over 90" you have to tile as two images split in half with no border in between if that makes sense. they explain it well in the update. when its something 120" x 36" lets say i run the set up at 36 x 60 then go to the page set up and there should be a box for tie image when you preview it again it shows the tiled image put back to back. you also have to tell it toreverse the print. i use adobe cs2 illustrator and it works well.

I need 100% black high density prints from mac and InDesign/illustrator to make film positives for screen printing. What can I do or adjust to accomplish this? Thank you

Is it a text or an image or...?
If its just a jpeg you are putting through indesign, test its 100% K value using the dropper tool and hovering over the image.
If its text, or indesign generated, make sure the fill you use is 100% black, not 50% blue, 50% black which is often the default. Again, check the final using the dropper before you export the pdf.
I'm not sure exactly what your application is, but often for screenprinting, people duplicate the image....so for instance two acetates of the same image one on top of the other to maximise the density....a friend of a friend apparently even uses 4 acetates layered up to be absolutely certain.

This error means the printhead is tilted back but not properly restrained by the print-head restraints.

There are several possibilities.
First. The right or left print-head restraints often crack not holding the print-head in the restrained position. Remove the side covers and you can see them inside the frame about center at the top, they are glossy black unlike the frame.

Second. The maintenance camshaft (behind the maintenance pivot plate) may have cracked cams not allowing the the maintenance pivot plate (this holds the maintenance kit) to move to home position. This causes the process gearbox to be out of the correct home position.

Third. The process motor may not be aligned correctly or even may be bad - broken or worn teeth. This is on the right side in the front lower corner.

There are other possibilities but more rare.

Hope this helps. At least you have an idea of the problem.

Distorted image printing from InDesign to Xerox Phaser 8560

Have you tried a different driver? Most of those phaser printers have a PS driver loaded, See if there are PCL drvers for that product, and try that. I went on the Xerox.com site and they have both PS and PCL 6 and PCL 5 drivers, I believe one of those will help your problem.
Now that being said, If you are getting the stretching on other programs, then the problem is the drum motor encoder is getting contaminated with silicon lubricant from the maintenance kit. That will cause that problem, But since you are saying it is with one specific program, I suspect a different driver will correct the problem.

This is a c253 problem with negative images

It sounds like a driver issue to me. Are you sure you are using the correct driver?
Check the other computer that it printed fine from and compare settings/PPD.
You can also do a collect from both InDesigns and review the report file to see any differences.
There is a totally different driver that needs to be used if a Fiery is installed.

Also, you final line in the first posting sounds more like a "ghosting" issue and not an application issue.

I would deffinately identify the driver, you can download the driver files from the IC-409 by typing in the IP address in your browser and clicking on the "Webtools" logo. A pop-up will apear giving you access to the drivers and Command Workstation.
Have you tried opening and re-submittin g the file from Command Workstation?
You could also PDF the file and see if you get the same results, this will identify if it actually is an InDesign issue.

Specific PDF Document/Specific Print Area Black Toner Not Fusing And Flakes Off

Without a doubt you have a problem with the fuser.
What that is caused from is buildup over time of ink on the heat roller. The teflon coating wears some and the ink sticks to the aluminum instead of pealing off onto the paper.
You then do not get enough heat or perssure to "fuse" the image into the paper.
Replacine the fuser will correct the problem.
