SOURCE: I have a Sony

E:61:10 is a lens error. Unfortunately, this needs to be repaired by an experienced technician. The only thing that you can try to do yourself is try bumping the camcorder with the palm of your hand near the lens. Try it on the top, sides, and bottom of lens. Sometimes this will work temporarily. If the camcorder was hit or jostled very hard, something in the lens may have moved. The other possibility is that the lens is not making good connection to the main pcb. If the bumping works, I would think it is a connection issue.

Hope this helps.

Lense cover will not open

Right, very common problem with this camera, the lens cover auto closes when the camera is turned off, but has been known to start to have problems once the camera is over 4 months old, it is a major design fault with early releases of the model, it was a very bad idea anyway, one of the big problems in jumping into buying new tec gear as soon as it has been designed because the new versions are ok, but never mind we love being first on big spends don't we?
