I checked the cords and tested them on my ps2 and they all worked ok. It happened when there was an electrial storm and my ps3 wasn't running, but on the red light. I dont know what to do, except ship it into Sony.

Usually when this happens, it is a connection between the system and the tv. Do a physical check of the whole cord and see if you feel any breaks in either the red or the white wires. If these seem fine, then it could be the connection INTO the system. Just clean it, and the cord input, with some alcohol. Make sure the system is unplugged first. ^^ And give it a couple minutes to dry. Reconnect and you should have sound. If these don't work, try a new cord, as they are really cheap parts for the system.PlayStation x, PS one, PS2, and the PS3 all use the same plug and cords for the A/V. Good luck.
to solve your problem you need to use hdmi or component high quality cables...if you got a Ps3 to work with high video power...1080p ... I think you are losing time using this console with 480i audio and video low resolution cables...You need to understand that the simple sony A/V cable is made to use with Playstation One. Buy and install a hdmi cable in your Ps3 ...and you you see the huge difference...
If it works on other televisions, than the video cord must be good. Is the television on the right input channel? If it is, the video input may be bad. You should test the video input with a dvd player or vcr. You can always plug ps3 into a vcr, and vcr up to televison.
the power cord is the same as any other electronic appliance with two connectors it don't need to be an original you can use one from a small radio cassette player or any other appliance specially older ones the longest is detachable and the video/audio cable is the same on all playstations playstation 1 playstation 2 playstation 3 so you can probably find one power cable at any flea market or 99 cents store just make sure it has 2 connectors but I can guaranty that a 99cents store they have one and the video and audio cable you can order one at ebay for like 3 -5 dls it won't matter if is from ps1 ,ps2 or ps3 they are all the same
