My webcam not working. The webcam icon has disappeared.

Tried to troubleshoot and got into trouble. My hardware has vanished from the system. I have also mistakenly uninstalled the driver software for the webcam.

You have to uninstall the software, and try the installation all over again

I have windows xp professional 2002, service pack 2 and the sound and sound icon disappeared

Sounds like either the hardware has become disabled or you lost your audio driver. To check this Right click the "My Computer" icon and select "Manage" A Computer Management window will come on the left hand side select device manager. This pulls up a list of every piece of hardware in your computer. If anything has a yellow " ! " next to it then the computer sees the hardware but can not run it due to an incorrect or missing driver. If there is a red " X " next to it then it has been disabled. To re-enable a component right click the icon and select enable. Finding the correct driver may be difficult, if you bought the computer from a store try going to the manufactures website. Go to Drivers/Support, usually you can type in the Model or Serial number of your computer and pull up every driver you may need.

The the microphone on my webcam doesn't seem to be working.

Try this.
~Right click on the My Computer icon and click Properties on the list.
~On the properties tab click on Hardware.
~Under hardware click device manager.
~In device manager, look for on the list Imaging Devices and click on that. And double click on USB Video Device or it may be named something else.
~On that new page make sure on the bottom it is set to enabled. if not enable it and click apply...
~Close all of those pages and Open My computer...
~ON the bottom you should see a Camera/ Webcam Icon... and click on it, and you should be all set.
~If not Try using the webcam program if your computer cam with one.

After installing software the found new hardware wizard never appears so it does'nt finish installing. when I click on webcam express my built in web cam comes on instead of the sakar cam.

Hi there,

Is the webcam already plugged in while you are insalling the driver?

Try to install the driver and plug the webcam the software finishes installing.

or click start -> go to RUN (or type run if you're on vista or win7) -> then type devmgmt.msc

on the device manager

-click your computer Icon
-click action
-click scan for hardware changes

Hope this helps!

hi try system restore .take it beyond the date when your problem first began.(do system restore in safe mode)this sounds like a virus ..i,ve done this before and it worked .if this dosen,t work you can reverse this action..another remedy is a good propriatry virus remover like; trojan remover; or bart pe.this ones used through your optical drive.failing all this reinstall a fresh set of windows.hope this helps.
