My laptop is reading the pen drive, opening and operating all files but i'm not able to transfer any file to pen drive, although i can transfer files from pendrive to desktop. kindly provide the solution...

if there is no security password or write protect switch (this would be a small switch on the side of the pen drive) then it may be your pc not allowing cut and paste transfer. Try right-clicking on the file you wish to move to the pen drive, click "copy" then right click the pen drive icon and click"paste" this would copy the file to the drive instead of moving it. Moving the file is effectively, copying it to the drive and deleting the origional and if the origional has password or other forms of increased security/priority the pc won't allow it to be deleted or moved.
good luck.

I have a verbatim usb 2.0 1 TB hard drive and I can't disconnect it from my laptop. I get a message- windows can't stop your generic volume device because it is in use. I just installed Roxio for computer...

Look down in the corner, the right corner for an icon that looks like a small drive slanted with a green arrow over the top of it. If you click on this ICON, it will bring up a small window that says safely remove devices, click on your verbatim drive and it will give you a message. If it fails to do this then Ctrl+Alt+ Delete keys pushed all together one time brings up a window with six buttons. Select "Task Manager" and it will allow you to stop certain processes. Look for the Verbatim drive and halt it. Failing this, you can shut the machine down and remove the disk.

Windows can't boot, either because it was corrupted or the hard disk died. Reinstall and if the problem returns then replace the hard disk.

Hard disk icon disappeared from desktop

To add the hard disk icon back onto your desktop, first click the "Finder" button in the dock. It is the dark and light smily face icon at the end of the dock.

Next, click the "Finder" menu item at the top of the screen and then "Preferences". In the "Finder Preferences" window that opens, click the "General" button. From there you can select what system items appear on your desktop. You can click "Hard disks" to re-add the hard disk icon.
