Question about Toshiba Satellite A135 Notebook

1 Answer

PC will not boot.

When turning on my sons PC (A135-S7403) the Toshiba screen appears with two choices F2 setup, F12 boot device selection menu.
When going to boot menu the following message appears over and over:
For realtek RTL8100E/8101E Fast ethernet network adapter v1.02 (060510) PXE-E61: media test failure, check cable PXE-M0F: exiting PXE ROM Intel UNDI , PXE-2.1 (build 082) Copyright (C) 1997-2000 Intel Corporation. I cannot seem to get past this everything I have tried does not work, even using the Toshiba system recovery disc it came with. If you have a solution, I would be ever so grateful, thanks.

How do I know if my boot ste up is correct

If your PC doesn't boot up using the hard drive, you can check that by looking for the F2 or F12 displayed on the screen during boot up. Then start pressing F2 or F12 quickly to get setup.
In setup follow the directions and set your "boot device" to "hard drive"
Hope this is what you needed.

When I power on my Toshiba laptop is tells me to press f2 for SETUP, Press f12 for boot device selection menu. But am not sure what to do after I get on either screen

the one you press are the setup for bios settings..in the boot menu, you will select which is your priority to be your first boot,2nd and 3rd..the first boot you choice will be the one boot first..highlight the boot selection then navigate your choice..if you are going to boot it first from cd drive then select cd-rom,and if you to boot your drive which contains your system, then select hard drive as first boot..

Can not Boot from OnBoard SATA Hard drive.....it keeping looping...

Turn on (or restart) your computer.
When F2 = Setup, F12 = Boot Menu appears in the upper-right corner of the screen, press <F12>.
The Boot Device Menu appears, listing all available boot devices. Each device has a number next to it.
At the bottom of the menu, enter the number of the device that is to be used for the current boot only.

If this works and you want to change the setting permanently do the following:
Turn on (or restart) your computer.
When F2 = Setup, F12 = Boot Menu appears in the upper-right corner of the screen, press <F2>.
Use the arrow keys to highlight the Boot Sequence menu option and press <Enter> to access the menu.
NOTE: Write down your current boot sequence in case you want to restore it.
Press the up- and down-arrow keys to move through the list of devices.
Press the spacebar to enable or disable a device (enabled devices have a checkmark).
Press plus (+) or minus (–) to move a selected device up or down the list.
