14 August 2007 - Yes it can be connnected like this and will record, even if there is copy protection on the video or dvd - it just ignores the protection. It would be a useless bit of equipment if it couldn't to this basic task. Regards

The answer is yes "But only with non macro protect DVD therefore any DVD recorded from home movies can be transfered to the hard disc you can also record off a freeview box.
