Question about Epson Stylus Photo R300 InkJet Printer

2 Answers

The printer will not turn on.

I have tried different cables, tried holding down power, stop and maintenance buttons for 10 seconds, and nothing happens. Prior to this when the power button was pused, printer came on and roller turned continuously - would not stop. Ink carriage did not move 0- could be moved manually. Is printer beyond repair?

It depends on the model that you have. You can try one of the following to reset the ink counter and the printer will show a full color cartridge.

This is the procedure I used for an MP470. It is basically a modified version of that previously posted for the MP460.

1. Disconnect the power cable.
2. Hold down "On/Off" button.
3. Reconnect the power cable.
4. With the power button still down, press the "Stop/Reset" button twice.
5. Release the "On/Off" button.
6. The printer is now in "factory mode".
- wait until "idle" is displayed.
7. Press the right arrow button (next to the "OK" button) repeatedly until "Shipping Mode 3" is displayed.
8. Press the "OK" Button
9. Wait until "Without Cleaning" is displayed and then presss the "Stop/Reset" button once. (I pressed the ok button after Stop/Reset button on my MP470).
10. A test page should print.
11. Open the cover.
- the cartridges should position themselves at the far left - the cartridge removal location.
12. Disconnect the power cable.
13. Remove both cartridges.
14. Close the cover.
15. Reconnect the power cable.
16. Press the "On/Off" button once.

Printer maintenance is in Progress. Scan after it is complete. Code : 2,114,0 I have useing in scan only. That is problem, how to slove this problem, Please help me.

This problem usually occurs when you try to scan a documents and the ink in the cartridges of the printer ran out.

I am assuming your printer is Canon MX300 because its posted under this brand/model.

Even if you successfully refill the ink in the cartridges, you will need to reset the printer so that it will think that the cartridges is fully refilled. Genuine canon cartridges has a special chip that can detect if your cartridge is emptied.

In that way, after resetting it, and the printer recognized the ink.. then that is only the time you can use the Scan command in the printer.

Make sure the cartridges is filled with ink.. then try to reset it.. here is how?
1. Disconnect the power cable
2. Connect it while holding down the power button
3. With the power button still down, press twice the "Cancel/Stop" red button
4. Release the power button
5. The printes turns into a kind of factory mode...(wait for about 10 seconds, utils it says "Idle")
6. Press the ">" (next to the "OK" button) once."Shipping Mode 3"
7. Press the "OK" button.
8. Press "OK" again for "Without cleaning"
9. A test page will print..
10. Open the cover, like you are about to change the cartridges.
11. Disconnect the power cable again.
12. Take out both cartridges.
13. Close the cover.
14. Connect the power cable once again.
15. Turn the printer on.
16. Now just put the cartridges back...

Now.. for some mx300 they cannot apply step no.6 because nothing haappens when they press ">" button....you can bypass that..assuming "idle" appear .... proceed immediately to step no. 10.

There are also times that you will only need to press the STOP/RESET button for at least 10 seconds and wait for it until the printer restart itself.

Just post back if you still have question.

Thank you for using Fixya.

IS IT TRUE THAT THE CANON MX 320 IS THE WORST PRINTER IN THE MARKET? BECAUSES THE 5200 ERROR?

Not really!!

You can try two different procedures to clear the error.

1. Turn off your printer
2. Press and hold the STOP/RESET button
3. Press and hold Power ON button
4. While holding the Power ON button, release the STOP/RESET button
5. While holding still the Power ON button, press twice the STOP/RESET button
6. Release the Power ON button
7. Wait until it display an "idle" message. It will take about a minute.
8. When "idle" appear, open the top cover to expose the cartridges.
9. Lift up the cover for cartridge holder and take out both the black and color cartridges
10. Return the cover of cartridge holder and turn off the printer
11. Return the top cover and turn on the printer again
12. After the printer initialize, return the cartridges.

The next procedure is also the key for making the old cartridge reusable after getting reffiled
1. Press and Hold the STOP/RESET button and wait until it self restart.
2. Release the STOP/RESET button the the printer is restarting.
3. Wait for a few seconds

If you bumped in to a different error codes See My
Helpful Tips for this Printer Pixma MX320 and MX328.

If this solve your problem please give some good ratings too as this will help me too. Thanks.

The led screen shows genera error

you need to reset your printer try doing this
  • Press and hold “Stop”, “Maintenance”, and “Power” buttons for about 10 seconds. A message will come on the screen saying counter is reset and to turn the printer off. The R200 and others don’t have a screen so just wait until the 10 seconds is up.
  • Turn the printer off, unplug the power cord. Wait about 1 minute and power the printer back up. The counter will be reset. That’s all there is to the reset procedure.
