cuisinart DCC-2800 leaks water from under side, after 5 months the lid spring lock broke'.. then only after about a year and a half, and just out of warranty!!!!!!!, it must have sat on the store shelf over a year before we purchased it new. bad design for such a costly coffee maker and Cuisinart was not much help either when we called, I called several months earlier to get the problem fixed but was told to call back because there system was down for maintenance, so now when I had the chance to call back they tell me they did not want to fix it and only offered me a discount on a new one, why would I want to buy another when I spent sooo much on this one only to have water leaking all over my counter, table, chairs and floor'? never again, next one will be all stainless so it wont leak. so do not have to worry about asking for help again on such a expensive coffee maker.

Why won't the hot water empty into the coffee pot?

Make sure your caraffe has its lid on , and check the bottom of the filter. it usually has a valve preventing coffee from leaking when you remove the caraffe. the lid pushes the valve back open when you place the caraffe back into the machine.

I love my Cuisinart 10 cup coffee maker, but I hate my pot. Every time I pour a cup of coffee the pot leaks. I have tried removing the lid and the pot still leaks. Please help I am getting tired of...

Be careful! The top will soon disconnect from the bottom! I've had the same problem for the last few months. This morning (11/19/10) the top of the pot seperated when I poured a cup of coffee and half a pot of piping hot coffee spilled down my right leg. I'm on hold with their customer service department as I type this. Has anybody else had the same issue?

Regards,
Harry B.

My two year old Cuisinart 14 cup just started smoking from out of where cord comes out. Is there a recall on this. There are a ton of complaints that they catch on fire

Here is a link to the Cuisinart support site: http://www.cuisinart.com/support/us.html

After unpluging the coffee maker and making sure that no one will attempt to use it please contact Cuisinart to see if the DCC-2200 is on the recall list. If it is not, you should consider installing a new power cord with at least 14 gauge wire....this is assuming that you are comfortable doing this sort of repair. Otherwise, replace the coffee maker! Fires from electrical problems are responsible for too many deaths to take any chances with an appliance that smokes when plugged in!

The coffee maker just quit midway through brewing this morning with half a resoviour of water left in it. I cleaned the screen at the bottom and determined there is no clog. Perhaps the heating element...

That has happened to me, and I ran a full 10 or 12 cups of vinegar and then 3 more times of water thru the coffee water resoviour and it took care of the problem. It is probably overdue for a cleaning.

Cuisinart 14 cup coffee maker won't heat up. It turns on but no coffee is brewed. heat plate is cold and water stays in resevior. Is it worth fixing? Can it be fixed?

It may be. Unplug the machine and take it apart. Find the thermal fuse. It is usually on one of the power wires near the plate. Check it with an ohmmeter or continuity tester. Replace it if it is open (no continuity) I'm not sure if they still do, but Radio Shack used to sell the fuses.

If I put 6 cups of water in when it is done there is left only 4

The good news is there is nothing wrong with your coffee maker!

With any coffee maker that heats up the water, you're going to lose some of that water to the heating process (steam, etc.). You also don't get every bit of water out of the machine.

So that's why you need to look at the water reservoir level indications instead of using the graduations marked on the glass coffee carafe.

Typically, once you've figured out how you coffee maker works, I'd just "add" 2 more cups of water in the glass coffee carafe to get the amount of cups you want to brew.

I know my coffee maker is pretty close to exactly 2 cups shy of whatever I put in the glass carafe that I pour into my coffee maker. That's when I noticed the markings inside the water reservoir that didn't match the coffee pot. It was always 2 cups shy, so I just put 8 cups of water (using the carafe) to get 6 cups in the morning.

So I suggest you just you make these small adjustments to your water measuring and you'll get the right amount of brewed coffee out of your machine!

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Leaks water out overnight

I bet it leaks from the back, right? If it does, it has the same problem as my dad's.
You have a leak in the back of the holding tank. Fill it up, turn it around, without plugging it in, and watch for the water leak. If it's in a spot that you can see, then use some caulking to seal the leak. That should work. If not, it is leaking out from inside the plastic holding tank. Not much you can do but buy a new one.

Cuisinart grind and brew--water does not come down

If the water is not coming out of the filter basket, and is instead leaking over the edges, then replace the brew basket.

If there is no water at all, call Cuisinart - those coffee makers have a 3-year warranty.

Clean it out with 1/3 caraffe worht of vinegar and 2/3 caraffe full of water - just brew the solution as if it were regular coffee - you may have to repeat this process up to 3 times.
