computer won't read the 2GB sd card but when I put it back in the camera, it works fine and I can still view the pictures. We've downloaded pics from a 2GB card in the past on this computer so the size of the card shouldn't be an issue - especially since it is only 2GB.

I have a three minute video clip on the card that I need to download to my computer so I can email it to my son's teacher as it is for a school assignment.

If ur card is over 2GB, the memory card reader may have a max memory size limit. if it does it is probably 2GB. Check the specs or try a smaller size card to test.

I acidentally dropped my camera memory card and stepped on it. Now the metal piece (the reader) is missing and the card won't read.

Compare the damaged memory-card with a non-damaged memory-card.

If you've broken-off the gold-coloured contacts from the edge of the memory-card, then your memory-card is broken beyond repair.

Tough luck.

Try to check your memory card with at least 5 different computers. if they have card readers much better. memory cards have to be given at least 8MB for processing. It may have been used up even the space for processing. If haven't save the files before you kept it. It was really damaged. It needs to be formatted to make it function. There could be other reason why your memory card couldn't be detected. I'll just tell you next solution if you have tried this one. For now just do my suggestions for confirmation coz your pc has no support format for your memory card.
Please rate this solution for me to check any update.

Thanks....

Problem with memory card

Hi,
your camera can only read so many partitions
( File Allocation Tables )
( partitions are sections of the total volume )
Like slices of a cake.
which equals 4 GB, total.

so it will never be able to read more than this.

Like FAT32 on a Pc, will read 32GB
but you could have a 100GB hard drive in the machine, still reads 32GB only, so even on a PC 68GB would be wasted.

The file format on the camera can not change,

So you are stuck with 4GB max reading.

Hope this halps
Regards
Richard.
