Hi there,

Turn you laptop upside down, you’ll find a few screws with a symbol that looks like a keyboard.
Unscrew these screws(and ONLY these).
Turn it again, open, and find about 4 "slides" in between the F-buttons. Slide them toward the front and lift the keyboard up from the F- buttons. Be careful not to break the thin film. The film can be lifted from the seal, again with care.
Unscrew all the screws keeping the keyboard together.
Then clean, and know why you shouldn’t drink and drive at the same time - sorry that’s in a all together different area :-)

Regards

My daughters's calculator got wet when something spilled in her book bag. We took out the batteries and let it dry out. Later we put in new batteries and it works but is extremely slow and I have to press...

If water was spilled in it, the batteries should have been removed immediately, if you could remove the circuit board from the casing, dry it off and place it under a lamp for a few hours it should have been perfectly fine. If a soft drink, sugar base or other substance was spilled in it; the board would need to be cleaned, a small amount of soap and water can work, use a cotton swab, only clean the affected area of the spill, make sure to rinse all the soap off, dry with towel, then place under a lamp to get all the moisture out. Also make sure you clean the bottom side of the buttons that contact the circuit board. If it doesn't work then you may have to buy another unit.

Spilled coffee on D600 notebook, power supply turns off when plugged in after had the notebook cleaned. is my notebook not fixable?

When the power supply turns off when plugged into the laptop it is indicating that there is a short. Remove your battery and try connecting the power adapter again. If the problem persists your motherboard will most likely need to be replaced.
There are companies out there that will repair motherboards however if the laptop was on when the spill occurred there is little to know chance that the motherboard is repairable.

I SPILT A SOFT DRINK ON MY KEYBOARD How do I clean it?

I would use Circuit Board Cleaner. It's a spray that would kind of degrease and evaporate really quickly. One time my laptop got rained on a little cause the window was open and it wouldn't turn on. Used the spray to spray the insides of it particularly around the areas where there lid sensor and power buttons were (of course all power were disconnected). I really saturated it so that it would go in deep. It took quite a few times but eventually it works reliably. I bought my circuit board cleaner from Repco (Australia) but I reckon if you go to any computer store and describe your problem they may offer something similar.
It's a big job to do it properly. I hear that you may need to open it all up and dip it in distilled water to clear out all impurities. I don't have the guts to do that sort of thing. Specially that I have a laptop.

How do I remove keyboard?

Most dell keyboard are "released" from underneath, turn your laptop over and look for the screws with a K next to them. Sometimes there is also a samll removable panel at the top of the keyboard hiding 2 screws.

Does your laptop have a touch pointer within the keypad? This can cause the problem you're experiencing. Did you try turning the track stick off in the touchpad settings?

My buttons wont work

i think the moisture has entered into the keypad sensor where it must have shorted the leads on the keypad board...
you should remove the keypad layer and make it dry thoroughly..
i would advise to take it to the service center for curing the keypad asap....if the phone is under warranty you can take it to the customer care

Laptop Cleaning/Repair

That is something that you should not attempt .. Because most likely you will need to replace the keyboard...
If they are just not working because they are Sticking or Stuck, you can repair this by yourself....you can remove the keyboard and clean it, also checking the ribbon cable that goes from the keyboard to the motherboard... look for any burn spots near the keyboard plug connection, chances are that just simply replacing the keyboard would fix it ..
You also will need the entire laptop taken apart to see if the "drink" spilled onto other parts, or worse... the motherboard...
