Try to Update your driver may it will work for you here arethe easiest step for updating the drivers:
Connect your device to the PC using data Cable (USB cable) Now On Desktop of you PC Right click on My computer icon and select Properties Click on Device Manager (Or follow Start button --> Control Panel --> Device Manager)
Now search for your hardware whom you want to update. Right click on it and click on Update Driver Software...
It will ask for CD or DVD then insert the driver CD/DVD if you don't have thenit will ask for searching the drivers over internet click Yes for it and itwill automatically download the drivers for you.
Or you can use Third party software which can search,Download and Update them for you without making much effort..

If these don't work, power off the scanner > disconnect the connection cable > uninstall all components of the HP Programs in Add or Remove programs > restart the computer > reinstall the scanner drivers and programs > restart the computer > power on the scanner > reconnect the cable > test again.
Let's compare bananas with bananas and apples with apples... if you have the unit ON with some lights and some activity going on, than the POWER CORD is just fine... you seam to refer of a communication problem (not a power problem) from the unit to the computer... normally for HP multi-function devices you have to install a USB cable and the software FIRST than connect the unit when the installer ask you to do so, FIRST UN-INSTALL all drivers & software you installed previously, reboot the computer with the unit OFF, connect the USB cable, than pop in the installation CD, go through the setup (accordingly) than when the installer ask you to connect the unit, turn it ON, than let the installer finish the configuration...
Hi there , if your Windows 7 Connect PC is connected to the internet it should automaticly download and install drivers for that device. However , sometimes windows 7 has got its problems with Printer Drivers so try head over to the site here : http://support.visioneer.com/downloads/drivers/XP220/XP220.4591016.EN.msi

open your device manager in control panal attach your scanner with computer and power on look at imaging device
double click the usb scanner or right clik the scanner itom select update driver select brows my compurer for driver software install driver manually insert your software driver cd in cd rom
search for driver software in this location brows and select cd or dvd rom drive select tickmark at included subfolders then click at next button auotmatic install your driver then your scanner is work with device and printer folder
you also instass scanwizard software form your cd and scanner work properly.
Once you connect the printer to the computer it should get detected by the computer. You will need to provide the driver Disk only if it asks for the same. you can download the drivers for the device by going to support(dot)hp(dot)com. Enter the product number or the model number of your hp device and download the driver for the relevant Operating system.
