Question about OKI C9500dn Led Printer

Open Question

Oki c9500 blotches

Our c9500 prints blotchy marks on every page, equally spaced every 3 inches or so horizontally across an a4 (portrait) sheet.
We've printed a full page of each colour, and it appears on all, so it's not the cartridges or drums and also changed the fuser unit.
The printer has been cleaned up in all areas as well. Any ideas?

SOURCE: Oki C9500 makes VERY LOUD clunking noises but prints fine...

The sound is most probably from one (or more) of the drum units. You can check by taking them out and trying to run the visible gears by hand. If you have spare drums, change them one at a time until you find the defective one.

We had this issue and removing the optional hard disk fixed it for us, I'm guessing it was on the way out and wasn't really being used so it will not be missed.

SOURCE: Oki C3100 - v poor print quality

Hi Errol

The way to identifiy your problem is to send a full colour print to your printer and open the top just as the paper starts to come out . if you then remove your toner / drums for all the colours you can see the transfer belt if the quality of the image that you can see on the transfer belt is good and clear your problem is with the transfer form the tranferbelt to the paper and not any toner /drum issue and the most likley cause is the transfer belt itself "but before you relpace it remove it and clean around the electrical contact points and generally make sure the internals of the printer is free of loose toner .

Ii may be that you have poor sensor flaper response, somewheare between paper pick up section and fuse unit. Check the paper registration sensor. On sensor flaper you have a spring wich can be dirty of toner or grease so she slows down the flaper.

2) did you check the pick up clutch? He is maybe worned out so he does not react in specific moment, and couses the delay jams

3) did you clean all the pick-up,feed and separation rollers.

Good luck

The MB451W uses electrostatic toner and does not have print heads. Follow the cleaning instructions beginning on page 172 of your User's Manual. If you don't have it handy, you can download it from the OKI website. (The link is for the English language manual.)$FILE/MB461_MB471_MB471w_MB491_ES4161%20MFP_ES4191%20MFP_MPS4200mb_Basic_UM_E.pdf.pdf

Note: on page 174, the manual recommends "soft tissue paper" for wiping off the LED array lens. Lens-cleaning paper or cloth for plastic lenses should work and is less likely to leave lint behind.

If you are getting random black blobs on the back of your printout after cleaning the printer as recommended, the fuser is dirty. If the fuser cleaning strip is accessible (a felt strip that wipes off the fuser roller during operation), gently scrape it clean with a knife blade held perpendicular to the strip, then clean the debris out of the printer. (CAUTION: the printer must be off long enough to be cold before working on the fuser!) If you can't get into the fuser, use the following procedure: Get matte-finish paper of the thickest stock your printer will handle. Put several sheets of this paper in the paper tray. At the computer, type a single space on a blank document, with no headers or footers, then print the blank page (trying to print with nothing at all usually doesn't work). This should pick up some of the trash. If you still have problems, open a graphics program and draw a solid black rectangle all the way across the page ("portrait mode") and about 4" high. Place a copy of this rectangle 2" below the first one. Insert a page break, and put a white object (anything white or transparent, with a white boundary) on the second page. Print double-sided. The black rectangles will pick up dirt from the fuser roller and the heat will make it stick to the paper toner. Repeat if necessary, then remove any unused cleaning paper from the tray.

Black dots/blotches on the sides of printed sheets - whats is the cause and how t to fix it

If you have random blotches on both sides of the sheet, your printer probably needs cleaning, especially in the fuser section. If the fuser is difficult to get at, here's a good cheat developed for HP LaserJet 6 printers: Use a basic graphics program such as Microsoft Paint to draw three solid black rectangles about 2.5" top to bottom, going all the way across the paper (the space in between is not critical - the key is that you go as close to edge-to-edge as you can get). Print out this sheet.

Put the sheet back in the paper tray so it will print on the blank side (usually printed side up). Open up a quick text processor (Notepad in Windows). Type a single space, then print (some text editors won't print a document with no data in it). Dirt in the fuser will get stuck to the black areas on your cleaning sheet. Test your work by printing another copy of " ". Repeat with a new cleaning sheet if necessary.

At college we have a w7200, how can we print across the paper rather than down it, for example a panoramic image across the width of the paper and say 20cm high

Try selecting LANDSCAPE as opposed to PORTRAIT by using the proper print menu in your application rather than the simple print icon from most tool-bars.

You can usually find it in the FILE menus

Problem printing multiple pages on one sheet!

This is not the fault of the printer but the fault of word.

The way I did it successfully was as follow:
File > Page Setup > Layout = Landscape (sounds like you have already done this)

In the print dialoge, instead of OK, click Properties. On the layout tab, select landscape and below that select pages per sheet = 4 and then click ok... Then click OK to print.

Horizontal streaks on pages

Streaks at 2.82 inch intervals: Horizontal marks at this interval are the result of a mark on the fusing roller of the printer. In some cases, these marks can be cleared up by running a cleaning page through the unit. Laser Printer Cleaning sheets can be purchased at your local printer/office supply store. If the marks persist, this can indicate a more serious problem with the fusing roller that would require service attention.

Streaks at 3.74 inch intervals: Horizontal marks at this interval are the result of a mark on the image drum of the printer. There is no way to repair a damaged photosensitive image drum, so in the case that it is scratched or otherwise damaged, the entire CRU (toner/drum cartridge) would require replacement to clear up these marks.
