Do you have charged bat packs or fresh bats. Have you synced both the controller and the xbox together? Unplug the unit for a min. and check all connections if wired. plug in and try to sync again, Push the little buttons on the front of the controller and the on on the unit at the same time and see if the lights do the circle thing. Learn how to connect a wireless or wired controller to your Xbox 360 console.
Connect a wireless Xbox controller
  1. Turn on your console.
  2. Press and hold the Guide button on the controller until the controller turns on.

  1. When the lights surrounding the power button on the console stop flashing, the controller is connected.
On the Xbox 360 S console, each connected controller is assigned to one of four positions. Each position corresponds to a lighted section around the console power button and the controller Guide button. On the 360 E console, a solid green light on the front of the console indicates that the controller is connected. To determine the player position associated with your accessory, look at the ring of light that surrounds the Guide button on the controller.

You can also use the Xbox 360 Play & Charge Kit or the Xbox 360 Quick Charge Kit to power the controller. Learn more about Xbox controllers and chargers.
To connect additional controllers, follow these same steps again. You can connect up to four controllers to the console. Each connected controller is assigned a position that corresponds with the lighted sections that appear around the console's power button and around the Guide button located in the middle of each controller.
  • To disconnect a wireless controller, press and hold the Guide button for three seconds, and then choose to turn the controller off.
  • When you turn off the console, the controller will reconnect the next time you turn on the console.
  • The controller can be connected to only one console at a time. You can connect the controller to a different console, but the connection to the previously connected console will be lost.
Connect a wired Xbox controller

Wireless controller troubleshooting
If your wireless controller disconnects or cannot connect to your console, see Xbox 360 Wireless Controller disconnects or can't connect.
If your wireless controller does not turn on or loses power, try the following solutions:
Solution 1: Replace the batteries
Insert a new set of AA alkaline batteries into the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller, and then try to turn it on.
Solution 2: Try a different battery pack
If you have another Xbox 360 Wireless Controller, take the battery pack off that controller and attach it to your controller. Then try to turn your controller on.
If your controller works with the different battery pack, your original battery pack might be defective. If your controller is under warranty, you can order a replacement battery pack from Xbox Support . See the Assistance section at the bottom of this page for more information.
If your controller is out of warranty, you can buy a new battery pack from a retail store.
Solution 3: Try a rechargeable battery packIf you or a friend has an Xbox 360 Rechargeable Battery Pack, attach that battery pack to your controller and try to use your controller. If your controller works with the rechargeable battery pack attached, you can buy a new battery pack from a retail store or order a replacement battery pack from Xbox Support. See the Assistance section at the bottom of this page for more information.

Red light on power box for 360

i have to personally dissagree with 'wildbear' :-)
well not actually dissagree but i think the problem will be at lot less technical than all the writing he has done.
a simpler check.......does the 360 'switch on' ??
i assume with a red light on the power brick it dosnt ??
the problem is more likely a faulty pin (terminal) inside one of the USB slots you have been using for either a controller charger or wired controller (or a usb memory stick to play music thru ur xbox??)......plugging chargers/wired controllers in & out of either the 2 front slots (behind the flap) or the 1 at the back can sumtimes bend one of the terminals causing it to touch the outer casing of the usb slot ?? if it does this it shorts the board of the 360 which in turn stops u powering up the 360 all together :-(
one of the signs of this is a 'RED' light on the power brick & the 360 not powering up at all !! but sumtimes the power brick light will stay orange or even green.....even with this fault ! it dosnt always turn red !
One way to rectify it is (un-plug the powere brick from the mains first) & unplug ALL USB CONNECTIONS TO THE 360 !! (controller chargers ect) & try powering up the 360 !! (after plugging it back in)
if this fails ur gonna need a torch & a little screw driver (or tweezers) un-plug everything from the 360 & look inside ALL usb slots you have used ! check to see if any of the prongs have bent accidently whilst plugging in & out chargers ect ..... if they have straighten them so they are not touching any of the sides of the usb slot....
after doing this ...plug back in and 'hopefully' Whoooop Whooooop :-)

hope this helps ??
failing this it maybe as wildbear suggests & its a problem with the power brick altho i very much doubt it ?? they normally way out live an xbox !
remember thumbs up if this helps :-)

Xbox 360 won't turn on

I had this problem. Make sure the pins in the USB ports (2 on the front and 1 on the back of the console) aren't bent and there's nothing obstructing them. I unbent some of the metal inside these ports, and voila! I have a working xbox.

My controller wont connect to my xbox 360 even tho i have my controller plugged into the concile

If this is a wired controller, it sounds like it may be broken and you'll have to call Microsoft and see if they can do anything about it. If it's a wireless controller that you're charging through the USB, you still have to synchronize the controller first. To sync the controller you need to press a circular button on the front of the 360 just under the DVD tray and the ring of light will start spinning. Next turn on the controller and then you press another small circular button next to where you plug the charger into the controller and the ring of light on the controller will spin. Once they connect to each other they will both blink and then light up to indicate which controller number the controller has been assigned.

Xbox 360 Wireless controller wont turn on

Right, just keep plugging in the charger into the controller until the light stays red, the small amounts of charge put in each time will eventually give the battery enough juice for it's built in 'memory' to be clued in as to how much power is really in and will then start charging. This is usually caused by leaving your controller unused for a while usually days or so at room temperature after fully charging it in your xbox (i.e. the battery memory 'thinks' it's full and tells the xbox as much when really it's empty)

Controller is charged but wont turn on

Chances are the battery is really dead but xbox 'thinks' it is charged due to the batteries inbuilt memory i.e. it has lost charge on its own due to lack of use since it was last switched on. Just keep plugging the charger cable in until the light on top stays red and then should charge as normal.
