Door will not stay shut

If you gently push up on the door latch heads (hook-like devices sticking out of the door) there should be spring tension. If they just flop right up, the spring is off inside.

Normally the problem is not the spring, but a broken spring mounting tab on the door latch head (hook) assembly or the inner door panel.

If it's the door panel, it's usually easier and cheaper to use epoxy and some kind of hardware to fashion a new spring mount.

The door latch head (hook) is easy to replace or repair if that's the issue.

You can download Whirlpool owner's manuals, installation manuals, and parts lists here.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number from the tag here.

Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the screws you need to remove.

I would need more info to trouble shoot this fryer problem myself, but you could call Hobart directly, and ask for warranty/service dept... They can walk you through several things to help you figure out what's wrong with it...I know Hobart has a parts company here in Cincinnati, but their main factory is in Hobart, Ohio... Hello. I have a 1993 Hobart LX-30 dishwasher. Just recently the door lost the tension it has when we open it up. it now is extremely heavy and falls open like a dead weight. Any ideas what might be the...

There are a few possible causes of this, so it's easier to explain how it works and how to find the fault. There is usually a wire or cord attached to each hinge. The cord is threaded anti-clockwise through a pulley then runs vertically up to near the top of the washer where it's attached to a spring. When looking at the side of the washer, the spring is usually about 2-3 inches back from the door and attaches about 2-3 inches below the top of the washer.

To find the fault you need to remove the side panel/s of the washer. It helps if you can identify which side has lost tension (it could be both) as this avoids removing one side panel unnecessarily. Once you have removed the panel, you should be able to see the back of the hinge and the pulley/cord/spring assembly. It should then be fairly obvious what the fault is - it could be a detached/stretched/broken spring, or a detached/broken cord.

Hope this helps.

If your problem has been solved, please be generous and award this solution 4 thumbs-up. This service has been provided FREE - your simple acknowledgement is appreciated. Thanks.

Spare parts

I just took a look at the web site and found a lot of parts lists. I did't find the AE200, but there were several listings for A200. You can ask Hobart if the A200 and the AE200 are the same on the inside.
