Hi, I purchased an Acer L100 desktop. My problem is I unable to take control of the pC. I need to reset the administrator profile as another family member has corrupted the users files and I am unable to take control of the administrator user to load or delete programs. I hope you can help. Jim

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, pls try this:

  • Click the Start orb and click on Run (or press the Windows key + R);
  • Type in regedit and press OK. If it asks you to open this via UAP, then click Allow.
  • In the Registry Editor, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon.
  • In the right hand pane, right click the mouse and select New then Key. A new folder should appear in the left hand pane.
  • Name this new key SpecialAccounts and press Enter.
  • Right click the mouse on the new SpecialAccounts key in the left hand
  • pane, select New then Key again to make a "sub-key".
  • Name this new key UserList and then press Enter. In this new UserList key, right click in the right hand pane and select New then DWORD (32-bit) and name this Administrator then press Enter.
  • Double click on the new DWORD you just made, and set the value to 1 thenpress OK.
  • Restart the computer to see the effects - from the Welcome screen youshould be able to login as the administrator any time you wish.
Before you restart make sure you check this setting, click Start, Run, type in compmgmt.msc, hit OK. Under "Local Users and Groups", select Users, double click on the Administrator then make sure "account is disabled" is unchecked.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

Hi

I would suggest you get your hands on a windows xp setup cd, assuming the pc is runing xp, do a fresh install of xp to get rid of the problem.

You do have 1 PCI slot in that system. So, you could purchase a video card and place in that slot. Since your video is on-board you'll need to disable in Control Panel - Device Manager. Good luck.

You could try a new cpu fan and heatsink. They are normally inexpensive. if this does not work make sure all the case fans are working and check to see if your ram is overheating

Go back to Acer.com. The driver you want is the one that say's (Power 1000 chipset driver) that is if it's an integrated Network card. If it's not integrated then I would need the name on the card. Hope this helps.

Need password help for Aspire L100 with Windows Vista

Hello Freddy!

this is only a try. Switch on your system and then if your system prompted to supply password in any username thereto. just leave that instead. simultaneously press " Ctrl + Alt+ Delete" two times. Your prompted to supply " Username" and "Password":

On Username: type " administrator" all lower case
On Password: leave it blank.
and then click OK. may this solve.

If this not work then sorry i have to go on research about that.

Acer Aspire Mini PC

Hi, you will be able to purchase a mini ATX format board by almost any manufacturer that will fit the acer case, the only problem you may hve is the PCI and Graphics cards will need to be low profile standards but these are also available if you are not planning on gaming then the on board graphics on most new boards will do all you ask of them.
