    Thanks for the prompt response. However the person with the Mac would not have a PC with them. Is there a sollution if the user only has a Mac with them. This Mac works OK at the appleMac supplier on their WiFi system.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, pls determine the IP address of the Windows laptop. Pls include Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and DNS. Power off the Windows laptop. Thereafter, set the MAC to static IP address and copy the numbers from the Windows laptop to the Mac. Soon as the Mac is working, power on the Windows laptop. If ther wil be an instance that Windows displays that the IP/Network address is already in use. power down the Windows laptop. Modify the Mac by increasing the last digit of the static IP addres by at least 1. Try again.

This is of course assuming that the WiFi of the Mac is working and there are no security WEP/WPA being used on the WiFi router.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

    On the Mac Network Settings, pls try:

    • Select Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network button;

    • Select TCP/IP tab and configure Using DHCP;

    • Above the TCP/IP tab, you need to configure via other wireless (WiFi) Ethernet;

    • Leave Domain Name Servers and Search Domains blank;

    • Restart.

Why won't the wireless work on my mac it just went out but works on all other electronic devices

Can you see a wifi logo at the top screen?
Go into system preferences then to networks.
on the left choose the wireless adapter.
On the left you will see a window that shows the SSID that you have connected.
click the minus (-) button to delete all of them.
ckick apply. Turn on wireless and rescan wifi SSID.

try turn off wifi on the other device and see if the mac can connect.
if you can, maybe your IP is limited to your devices.
try reset your wifi and check again.

hope this helps

Macbook sleeping with top case attached

what do you mean plug it in, why have you taken the macbook apart in the first place, why would you take it off? because what your talking about is this, Since its not a customizable Notebook PC, if you "tried" to upgrade the macbook, you may have done something wrong and that may be the reason since when you take apart a mac and put it together again, chances are if you have no exp. it wont work. I should know since im trained in Apple Macs. All you can do is if you are on a apple protection plan, Apple might fix it for you, depending on what you have done, or they may not since you might have lost your warranty to the Macbook. Regards
