Check to make sure the selection lever for pitch is not in the ps position and that the keyboard selector is in kb1 position

My Brother ML100 is not printing what I type

Hammer sticking and typing incorrect letters (and or skipping letters): 1) make sure daisy wheel installed correctly. 2) hold down CODE key & Q (RESET) to reset wheel...if still not corrected 3) WD40 the hammer at the base & joints where moving parts are, keep typing until oil seeps in (this last one fixed it for me)

Typing light and inconsistant-top part of letter okay but bottom too light or not there: to left of hammer (at base) are 2 screws, I losened them and adjusted hammer to different forward and backward spots..finally found the ideal location where full letter printed and had the correct force it needed to print correctly.

When typing wrong letters and numbers type

You might have a "proportional space" printwheel but the pitch selector is on 10, 12, or 15 instead of PS. OR it is on PS but you have a normal print wheel. Try selecting different pitches. Another thing that causes that problem is sometimes the ribbon or correction tape gets caught in the printwheel.

The selection motor bearings just right of the print solenoid get dry a little WD40 on the front and rear bearings usually takes care or this.

I have a really old SD 660 and I no longer have manual. It is printing great but it is not typing correct letter for example when you type a it prints the letter p and so on?

Remove the printwheel check for bent spokes, look for debris in that area, try it without the correction tape, check that the correction tape is dry not tacky, also check to see if the pitch selection isn't in PS proportional space. If allis good the homing pawl spring is probably broken, you need a tech.

Be sure the pitch selection is correct. If it is set to PS when using a 10,12 or 15 pitch wheel it will select incorrect letters.

Wong letters & numbers

I downloaded the manual from and then, following the instructions there, I removed then re-inserted the daisy wheel. This solved my problem. Perhaps it had somehow gotten out of adjustment. At least, it is something to try if you haven't tried it already.

Check the print wheel to see if any spokes are bent or missing, be sure that you have the proper correction tape (tack free) and that you are not in proportional space or have an international print wheel.

Types wrong Characters

Does it always type the same wrong letter ie a always prints u or w ? if so the print wheel drive gear is out of position. if not and it get random letters some thing may be interfering with the wheel rotation.
