Question about BenQ T905 19" LCD Monitor

Benq t905 monitor blank

I recently got a benq t905 19 inch monitor (obviously by its model #)
I own a 22" LCD monitor hooked up to my HD 2600 XT
I got the benq for free as I was told it doesn't work, however when you hit the power button you can clealy faintly see the "benq" startup and then my desktop background, any recommendations on what to do?  parts costing less then $50 is more then worth it and I can fix it myself as ive done plenty of things similar.  its running off a dvi-d port into a vga plug then vga into the monitor, ive thought of trying it fully dvi-d.
any suggestions is a great help, thanks.

thanks, ill check it out and its what I thought may be gone is the inverter board.  there must be a part around out there somewheres, it was cheap and free and im not hurting in the meantime until I find it.

The CCFL backlight tubes are burnt out. There are 4 of them in this monitor. You can try and find another monitor that maybe has the screen broken to pull them from, although you should be able to adapt any CCFL tubes for a 19 inch LCD into it. You will have to do some soldering to get the new bulbs in. You will also need to totally disassemble the LCD. I would rank it a 4 on 1-5 difficulty scale. Definitely doable but will require some electronics and tinkering experience.

Fist check the fuse on the inverter board if it is blown replace it if not you need another inverter board as it has fried. But I looked and was unable to find a new/replacement inverter online so I wish you the best of luck

all modern LCDs have ONE and ONE only native screen size. since you did not tell us the model number we have to tell you maybe you are setting the wrong size. if the monitor has worked before then you are sending it the wrong signal.

I received a benq t905 from my parents the other day and i just hooked it up to my computer and it won't work. everytime i press the on button it blinks green and makes a quiet beeping noise and then...

On rereading that post, I note that it shut itself off; perhaps it is time to open it up and fix it (if you're up on your electronics safety) per the _stinks_ note, below; you get to resolder some stuff running the backlight and replace a couple of standard capacitors and transistors, from what I can tell.

Things sound sort of normal for a driver being finicky about DVI modes; did the monitor driver not install, or just not bring visible results? You set your OS to 1280x1024 having booted to VESA (safe mode,) right? Normally when the resolution/sync is out of range, the status light is green constantly and you get a little note; maybe it's just too far out of the 56-76Hz video rate for that.

It's also possible that your backlight is failing (they fail short, as in too few ohms) or the monitor settings are set incompatibly...DMI or VGA cable? Does it stink?

You need to set your PC video resolution to the native resolution of this monitor, 1920 x 1080 @60Hz for best picture.

Benq T905 Monitor's green light turns on and then off

Check for blown MOSFET IRFU9024N and transistors C5707/5706, and fuse in the inverter circuits section. Also look for bad caps with bulging top/seal. See some pictures of failed Dell monitors (BenQ made alot of monitors for Dell), http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

2-3-4- years old benq FP19G = returned to office after lunch - burned out electronic smell in air - whole section of office electrically dead' - did reset = computer fired up ok - but screen blank...

Benqs have had some quality control issues but from your description the inverter board went on you. It needs to be replaced or repaired. Expect to spend about $100 for the repair so you may want to consider just replacing the monitor.

They can be fixed. The monitor I am using right now was one of those dead ones. It took a few hours to find as the rest checked out and it turned out to be a bad ground. Unfortunately when you smell burnt electronics you are not going to get off that easy.

Benq 19" monitor not working every time when computer started

Check your connections and make sure they are tight, and there are no bent pins. If everything seems ok, you might want to try plugging this monitor into a different computer or plug a different
monitor into yours to determine whether it's the monitor, the video card, or maybe the driver (doubtful on this as you state it seems to be bad somethimes on boot).
