You can try a couple of tricks. 1st from the control panel run find new hardware. This forces windows to identify the device and find drivers which it shouldn't need. the second try it in a different usb port (50/50 chance of working). You can also try manually installing it with either the cd that came with the camera or the install new hardware program in control panel but use the manual option. if it still doesn't work let me know what errors you get. you may need to delete it from the device manager tree.

good luck
Rob

Tip

Prevent a virus attack no your computer through USB pen drive or Hard drive

There are lots of viruses available that gets distributed with the help of USB per drives or portable hard drives.

So here is a useful tip which can be kept handy to prevent them from infecting your System.

Do not double click to open a removable drive or the portable hard drive or pen drive. Always right click and select explore from my computer. This is because, the virus would have created Autorun scripts that will get executed when double clicked. The scripts infects your computer with the same virus.

Once the removable drive is opened by selecting explorer, Navigate to Tools > Folder Options > Views. Find the radio button to show hidden files and folders. and also uncheck the option "Hide extensions for known file types"

Now of you find some new unknown files in your removable disk, try deleting them permanently by pressing shift+DEL. If it fails, copy required files from your device and then format the drive.

Hopes this tip helps someone.

My deskyop will noy install drivers to allow me to put broadband on. Can you help please?

Ok Im goning to assume that you want the usb drivers to make your motorola SB5100 work.

Take your installation Cd and put it into your dvd / cd drive.

DO NOT START THE INSTALATION SOFTWARE. Turn it off if it starts

Go to CONTROL PANEL

DOUBLE CLICK on SYSTEM

Go to DEVICE MANAGER

Look for any YELLOW QUESTION MARK regarding an UNKNOWN USB DEVICE or anything that states its a usb device.

DOUBLE CLICK on the yellow question mark item that staes its a usb device (unknown or just says something about your mode's name: You need to look for it closely)

CLICK ON the button called REINSTALL DRIVER

A window will open and ask you where to find the driver: Navigate it to the driver letter that your install cd is in. (Ex: D:\)

CLICK OK and watch closely.

A couple of drivers should apear from the cd that it looked thru. Whatever comes up, click on it and it will install the driver.

After installation, reboot the computer and the modem should work

If not, email me here ic0729@yahoo.com and I'll see if I can help you out more. Please write me back with results (whether its good or bad, Ok?)

I hope this helps you :)

Usb drive not accessible or write protected error

Once you eliminated it just being a particular USB port (they go defective with wear), consider that your WinXP or whatever might be patched ...at all, basically... on that machine. It's rare that there's an OS issue, but Sandisk U3 is less readable on older Linux. Since you have cited neither USB drive model nor the OS you're using, that's the news; update the OS! Get Syllable or something decent, maybe.

My computer has stopped recognising the driver for a 500gb Lacie Premier Multimedia Hard disk. It appears as 'Unknown device". how do i locate and replace the driver.

Most USB accessories do not get recognized well when plugged in before startin the computer. The exception seems to be mice. USB hadr drives and flash drives specially seem to have this problem. I always use the disconnect icon in the system tray to disconnect before shutdown and plug them in after windows has stabilized. I even gets worse if you use a USB hub. Some devices will not be recognized when attached to a hub.

Emprex cd burner/model # USB 5232Ul/install cd

Most times, you can plug the drive into a USB port and Windows will detect the device and assign a drive letter to it. If it does, the CD burning software should then be able to see it. Try googling the burner company name and model number if Windows continues seeing the drive as an unknown device.

Hi I have an external hard drive which for some reason is no longer showing up on my pc It doesnt show in device manager either. Actually they are 3 external MAXTOR hard drives that have the same...

Try deleting upper and lower filters in regedit (Registry Editor). See if this helps.

Also make sure that other USB devices can be read on your system.

Double check BIOS settings as well and try to reload default settings. (Make sure USB is on)

Cannot access hard drive after putting in external box

First, retrace your steps.
Make sure that the hard drive in the ext. casing is set to Drive 0 or master. If it is a Western Digital, take off any jumpers. If it Maxtor or Seagate it needs a jumper on the master pins. The legend on the hard drive will show you where.
Then, make sure that the IDE cable is on correctly. Or like many enclosures, you have to push the hard drive onto the connector.
When you power the unit up, listen to the hard drive and hear if it is spinning up.
Then see if it works.
I would also try a different USB port.
Did the enclosure include an AC power source? If not , the USB may not have enough power to run the unit.
If it still shows as an unknown unit, I would set it up as a secondary internally on your new PC to see if it is in fact the hard drive that is bad.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe
