Alternatively, you'll have to manually eject (it as described in the operational manual), and if that would not work too, then you have to unscrew the disc compartment cover, find a small lever with a spring (bottom-right of the disk), rise the lever and push the slide to the right side (Disk locking mechanism) and pull it out.

The error codes are for a stuck or mis-aligned tape.

Unfortunately these palm-corders and Pro-Sumer cam-corders do not have a manual eject like on the much more expensive professional cameras. This problem requires surgery.

You'll need to disassemble the tape door and carefully unwind the tape from the spindles, tape-head, and tensioner arms. Be careful not to scratch the heads!!!! Remove all power (AC and battery) from the unit prior to doing this. Never force any part of the delicate mechanics or the metal tape door.

Once the tape is clear of all the tensioners and heads, apply power and attempt to eject the tape. The camera should activate the tape spindles to take up the slack and eject the tape normally. Remove power and return the tape door cover to it's pre-disassembled state. Test with a NEW TAPE to make sure the camera is feeding tape properly and eject as normal.

After this, clean the tape heads and always use the same brand of tape. Different tapes have different coatings and formulas that can cause issues with your camcorders internal workings.

1. Try turning off the camera and then turning it on with the eject button pressed down.
2. Remove all power (including lithium batteries) and leave the camera off for 30 seconds. Then reinstall the batteries and turn the camera on with the eject button held down.

Remove the tape-cage cover plate (left side, under screen); Then take a wee, common (flat-blade) screwdriver & push down (in) on the left side of the catch mechanism, between the rear of the cage and the plastic housing. This is a "wiggle"-type fix, NOT a "force"-type. The back side of the latch actuator is outside the cage, but inside the plastic housing.

I had this problem - first I looked here for the solution from Sony: http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=C116541&sliceId=1&docTypeID=DT_KNOWLEDGEARTICLES_1_1&dialogID=35142694&stateId=1%200%2035138736
Perhaps that will help you, but it didn't help me - I then figured out, quite by accident, that when I popped open the outer plastic door to the tape cassette area, it wasn't swinging all the way open.  I pulled it a little further open a little further and the camera made a couple of beeps and ejected the tape.
Good luck!

for tape you need to take the covers off to expose the m-chassis and in the lower right corner there is a tower looking thing thats called the capstan motor it has two solder posts on it you need to apply power to them and the tape will come out be careful pulling the tape out because the ribbon wont go back into the tape you have to do that part by hand.

cannot get it to open inside to put a tape in

Dear Sir/Madam,

The viewcam will not record. I think is is an issue with the tape but the tape will not eject. I have tried the "push" button numerous times - the mechanism does move but does not eject the tape. On the screen is the code E007 which seem like an error code. Is there a way to manually eject the tape? Thanks in advance.

My Canon Mv5i suffered some beer damage and will not eject the tape so that I can recover the footage. No amount of wiggling or probing has any effect. Is there a way of manually ejecting it?
