There should be a head alignment process. I think if you run through this you will be fine. check the printer properties for the button to strat the program.

Why do I have color bars in my picture?

One of your ink cartridges has run out or is low in ink, or the head needs cleaning.

Color wont print

It could be that your cartridge needs cleaning. Open the Lexmark Solution Center. Click Start, Programs (Windows XP: All programs), Lexmark Z600 Series. Click the Maintenance tab. Under Select a maintenance tool, select Clean to fix horizontal streaks. Click Print. If the printed bars in one color fade on either side of the page or are shorter than the other bars, the cartridge is running low on ink of that particular color. If there are thin lines running through the bars or if the diagonal lines at the bottom are broken, the cartridge may need cleaning. Follow these instructions:
  1. Remove the problematic cartridge or cartridges from the printer.

  2. Take a warm damp paper towel and set the ink cartridge right-side-up on it so that the ink nozzles are against the towel.

  3. Hold the cartridge in this position for about 15 seconds.

  4. Wipe the printhead (on the bottom where the ink comes out) across in one direction only (left to right) until it looks clean.

  5. Next, dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure that the ink is flowing.

  6. Use a clean part of your dry paper towel to make sure that the cartridges are dry and then snap them back into the printer.

  7. Select Old Cartridge install in the software.

  8. Repeat the Clean Nozzle Page test one more time.

  9. If the problem persists, you may need to replace the cartridge.

Printer not printing photos with all colors

  1. Lift the printer access door, then remove the ink cartridges from the printhead.
  2. Verify that the label on the ink cartridges is intact, and that the cartridges are not damaged.
  3. Verify that the KODAK Ink Cartridges have not been refilled.
  4. Insert the ink cartridges into the printhead, then press down firmly until you hear them click into position.
  5. Close the printer access door.
  6. Check the printer status monitor on your computer (or the LCD screen on the printer) to determine if there is sufficient ink available for your print job.
  7. NOTE: Once the "Black ink cartridge is low" or "Color ink cartridge is low" message is displayed, print quality can be affected.
  8. Reprint the picture or document that had the quality problem
If still same quality then...
  1. Load inkjet paper into the paper tray.
  2. On the control panel, press Menu.
  3. Select Calibrate Printer.
  4. Select Print Calibration Page
  5. Press Start.
  6. When the print is complete, press Cancel to end the calibration process.
  7. Check the six color bars on the printed calibration sheet.

If no then:

  1. Press Menu.
  2. Select Clean Printhead, then press OK.
  3. Select Deep Clean, then press OK. The On/Off light flashes green during the cleaning procedure.
  4. When the On/Off light glows steady, press OK.
  5. Select Calibrate Printer.
  6. Select Print Calibration Page
  7. Press Start.
  8. When the print is complete, press Cancel to end the calibration process.
  9. When the print is complete, press Cancel to end the calibration process.
  10. Check the six color bars on the printed calibration sheet.

Photos have bars across and color is bad

Replace the color print cartridge(s). If you have already done this, the new cartridge(s) could be bad. This is especially true of refilled cartridges. On average, I find 25% of refilled cartridges are bad as soon as I plug them in. For that reason, I no longer use refilled cartridges unless I do it myself.

If you are sure the cartridges are good, then run the printer's cleaning and alignment utilities to see if that corrects it.

I am printing pictures on my Epson Pm260. The hair on all the pictures is coming out orange and ugly. What is wrong and how can I fix it?

Sounds like you are using a single COLOR Cartridge in your printer. If so one of the colors has run out and it needs that color to mix with the othe colors to produce the right hair color. Replace the color ink cartridge and it should work right again. Bud

Color printing

well there is always a way to reset the ink reading from the printer software or drivers thats the first thing i can think about

but did you try to remove the color cartridge and put it back in after turning off and on the printer

i mean take off the cartridge and turn of the printer
turn it on and put the cartridge back

see if that is going to help

and as i said check the printer driver and right click on it go to properties and check the color management bar.

i hope that would be

take care
