Question about HP Officejet Pro L7680 All-In-One Printer
Mine was working with an XP machine. I have yet to get my scanner to work with the 64bit Win7 machine I'm currently using. I've tried reinstalling several times. Mine is a network installation. and at this point the scanner won't work with the Win 7 machine or my brother's XP machine..
Prints fine though.

Had a similar problem " with my L7590 allin one unit, "scanner did not function" from the Solution center. If your unit is plugged into a surge protector, unplug the unit from the surge protector and plug directly into the wall power socket. It solved my problem. Can you believe this. The explanation is that the printer goes into sleep mode it reduces the amount of power needed for its uses and the internal surge protector of the unit notes this; however, when you "wake the printer up" the difference in power usage between the two levels may be considered by the surge protector as a power surge and limit or halt the increase, disabling certain functions. This must be scanner driver not communicating with the hardware.Try the following steps and i'm sure it will work.
1.Click start - >run then type "twain_32" click OK.
2.A window will open and click EDIT menu-> select all, then delete all the files and folders.
3.Click start - >run then type "services.msc" click OK.
4.Look for service called "HPZ PML Driver", Doubled click on it, check whether the "startup type" is "Automatic", if not changed it to automatic.Checked the "Service status" is "started".If not click on "start" button.Click Apply and OK.
5.Right click on "HPZ PML Driver" and click "Restart".Close the window.Click start - >run then type "%temp%"(without quotes) click OK. A window will open and click EDIT menu-> select all, then delete all the files and folders. If u cant delete them its ok, just close the window and go to step 6.
6.Disconnect the Printer USB cable, Insert the
installation disk of your printer. If Installation wizard
pops up, click on cancel/exit.
7.open My Computer, right click on your CD/DVD ROM Drive , then click "open".Look for folder called "UTIL" then look for folder called "CCC".There you will see a file that says "Uninstall_4". Double click on that file.
8.A run box will poppup, click OK, now you will see the command windows, hit enter the Driver that is necessary for comunication which are corrupted will be removed.
9.After that, restart the PC and Insert the Disk and
