HP Officejet Pro L7500 - printer installation ok, fax installation ok, but scanner driver does not work

    1. I tried all of your ideas, and nothing worked. Scanner still fails to install, HP won't discuss it, and the sad part is they knew about this and released it anyway.

    2. Still Hangs at 96%, but will complete the install if you wait about an hour, but the scanner will not function.

    3. Fax never does install, so I run it manually.

Frankley it is a piece of junk!

I have the same problem. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers per HP's help desk; didn't work. Even went in per HP's direction and manually removed everything and it still didn't work. I can scan from the MS scanner wizard, but that is it.

Mine was working with an XP machine. I have yet to get my scanner to work with the 64bit Win7 machine I'm currently using. I've tried reinstalling several times. Mine is a network installation. and at this point the scanner won't work with the Win 7 machine or my brother's XP machine..
Prints fine though.

Had a similar problem " with my L7590 allin one unit, "scanner did not function" from the Solution center. If your unit is plugged into a surge protector, unplug the unit from the surge protector and plug directly into the wall power socket. It solved my problem. Can you believe this. The explanation is that the printer goes into sleep mode it reduces the amount of power needed for its uses and the internal surge protector of the unit notes this; however, when you "wake the printer up" the difference in power usage between the two levels may be considered by the surge protector as a power surge and limit or halt the increase, disabling certain functions. Hi,

This must be scanner driver not communicating with the hardware.Try the following steps and i'm sure it will work.

1.Click start - >run then type "twain_32" click OK.

2.A window will open and click EDIT menu-> select all, then delete all the files and folders.

3.Click start - >run then type "services.msc" click OK.

4.Look for service called "HPZ PML Driver", Doubled click on it, check whether the "startup type" is "Automatic", if not changed it to automatic.Checked the "Service status" is "started".If not click on "start" button.Click Apply and OK.

5.Right click on "HPZ PML Driver" and click "Restart".Close the window.Click start - >run then type "%temp%"(without quotes) click OK. A window will open and click EDIT menu-> select all, then delete all the files and folders. If u cant delete them its ok, just close the window and go to step 6.

6.Disconnect the Printer USB cable, Insert the
installation disk of your printer. If Installation wizard
pops up, click on cancel/exit.

7.open My Computer, right click on your CD/DVD ROM Drive , then click "open".Look for folder called "UTIL" then look for folder called "CCC".There you will see a file that says "Uninstall_4". Double click on that file.

8.A run box will poppup, click OK, now you will see the command windows, hit enter the Driver that is necessary for comunication which are corrupted will be removed.

9.After that, restart the PC and Insert the Disk and
install the printer.Connect the Printer USB only if the PC prompts you to connect. After installaton completes, check the scanner.

Software Installation Problem

Hi,
I understand your concern that you are unable to remove previous HP drivers installed on your computer. To resolve this download the HP software removal utility and run the utility.

Click here to download HP software removal utility.

NOTE: Select your OS and select HP software utility At bottom and click on download only. After dowloading run the utility for four times to remove the HP printer software completely from your computer.

After running the utility four times restart the computer and check whether HP Imaging folder is completely deleted or not which as located in C:/progra files/HP Imaging folder. If the folder is not there then the software is removed completely from your computer and continue to download the Full Feature software from the same link and install it.

Now try to scan from HP solution center. This should resolve the issue.

Mirror images only

hopefully you have fixed this problem by now----if not, go to control panel bt clicking start then settings or could be start then control panel. WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR IS THE PRINTERS AND FAXES FOLDER. once you have found that, right click on the HP Officejet Pro L7500 Series (or whatever your printer name is) and choose printing preferences. go to the advance tab. look for mirror image and click on it you will be given a small drop down to toggle it from on to off----choose off and the click on apply and then OK.
