Hotpoint HTS18GCNAWW water not shutting off to the icemaker at random

HTS18GCNAWW. It seems that the water valve is not closing/shutting off, but is doing so at random. Almost like something is not sending the signal all the time. There is sufficient water pressure coming into the WR57X10033 water valve. Would it be the solenoid in the valve or a switch or something in the IM that closes the solenoid?

The fill tube was originally clogged/frozen. I have since cleared that. All the testing I am doing now is with the water valve connected, but the outlet of the water valve is not. I have it so it dispensed the water into a large bowl.
I do see the the forks rotating. Is there a sensor or switch that tells the valve to shut off or is it on a timer of some sort?

SOURCE: refrigerator has water leak

Had the same problem with mine. Got a technician to have a look. Inside the fridge at the back there's an overflow tray. CHeck if this is not blocked. Clear it by putting a tray behind your fridge under the overlfow pipe and pour hot water through the overflow tray inside the fridge. Sometimes food gets stuck in there and nobody thinks to clear this out. Mine was easily unblocked and now its stopped leaking.

SOURCE: Kitchenaid Icemaker does nothing. Ref. Mod.kscs25Inssoo

This also happened after I changed the water filter. The small black rubber tube that fills the tray was plugged with ice. Instead of hot wash cloths I used a hair drier for a couple of minutes.

We have a Samsung side by side. Ice maker on the top as part of frig. water is leaking and I see the ice stopper is not closing to keep the warm air from entering the ice compartment. Any ideas

If the icemaker is leaking water onto the floor:
  • Turn off the icemaker and then turn off the water supply to the icemaker. See Icemaker On/Off Switch.
  • The water supply line is usually located under the kitchen sink.
  • Locate the cold water line and look for a small 1/4" copper line attached to it. Where these two lines meet, there will be a saddle valve. This is the shut-off valve. Turn this valve in a clockwise manner until it stops. This will shut off the water to the icemaker.

Water dispenser not working and icemaker not making ice

Make sure you have water to your inlet valve. If you do shutoff water to valve and have valve tested. Chances are the valve has gone bad since both water dispencer and icemaker cant get water. If you have any questions or this does not cure your problem please reply.

I have tested the valve and it's is opening and closing but the icemaker keeps putting power on the valve everytime it cycles and never stops. The valve is shutting off water each time. What in the...

Yes, every time the icemaker cycles, it will switch in power to the icemaker water valve. the icemaker is pretty much a standalone device. All it needs is power and water supply, and valve. If it has both, and is not working properly, then the icemaker is bad.

Our icemaker will not shut the water off. I have

It's most likely the water valve in the rear of the appliance. This is located behind the rear panel to the right hand side. The valve supplies water to the ice maker on one side of the valve and water to the front panel for drinks on the other side. The water valve seems to be failing they are pretty easy to replace and not that costly if you can have a go yourself.

Hope this helps

Water overfills icemaker. Won't shut off properly

Good day,
There is a micro switch in the ice maker that turns on the water valve for approx. 7 seconds, and then closes it.
If the valve is hanging open, even though receiving no input from the ice maker then the water valve needs replaced.

Fridge makes an odd rattling or woodpecker like sound intermittently. What could this be? Thanks.

If you have an icemaker, that would be the sound of either the mechanism emptying the cubes or the water valve shutting off. If the water valve is going bad, or the switch that shuts off the water valve is going bad, the water valve may 'chatter'. If this is the case, try shutting off the icemaker, or even the water supply to the unit to see if it stops.

If you don't have an icemaker, then the circulation fan may be rattling a bit or has something in it, like a bit of paper. Circulation fans are typically behind a panel in the freezer sectionon most models.

Some units rattle the metal cooling pipes a bit when the compressor motor starts up. This is a more metallic clanging sound.

If it's a very sharp repeated clicking noise, that may be the sound of the motor-start capacitor going bad.

Icemake rarely dumps ice and when it does they are small cubes

There has to be a restriction in the water supply line from your saddle valve, ( shut off valve on the cold water line ) to the water valve. It can be in the category of, the hole in the water supply line is getting calcium build up or to small of piercing, or it can be a kink in the water line, or even the white fill tube at the icemaker is closing up with ice. 99% sure you will find the problem in one of those areas.

Hotpoint HSS25GFP icemaker stopped working

are u sure that model # Is right.. DOnt come up in any of my model data bases Seems like u might of got a bad icemaker.. if the water is coming into the icemaker from the water valve.. icemaker has to have power, to do that... all funtions after that would be controled by the iceaker .. The only other thing i can think of is your refrigerator has to be a certain temp to activate icemaker somewhere around 0 give or take some to be safe
