Presario C700 - Vista - Boots but continually restarts explorer.
I unwisely installed a very small program I downloaded off the internet. The program was supposed to be a movie player. Ever since then When I start up my PC Windows loads and then "reloads" all of the software like it is in a continual start-up mode. When I use safe mode I DON'T have any issues. When I run msconfig and turn off all services and startup programs I still have the issue. I ran Norton 360 (inc. antivirus) but it didn't detect any issues.
Re: Presario C700 - Vista - Boots but continually...
You did not mention if you uninstalled it. Did you? If you did and it is still doing, do what I have done in the past with excellent results. Do a System Restore to a restore point created prior to installing it. I would also suggest using the freeware, CCleaner, which will also clean your registry.
Of course, if you have not uninstalled it, then that would be the thing to do - time to look for something else that works. :)
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US. click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. Goodluck!

Open this link (click here), click on the Operating System type installed on it. Click on the "Download" button, install it and run the program. The wizard will automatically help you update and install the necessary drivers for the system. Note: This to be done using the compaq presario c700 where you want to install the driver.
You can also try this.. Connexant high definition audio driver for Vista 32 (since you didn't mention the specific operating system, I am having trouble giving you the specific link)

You need to download the drivers from the Compaq/HP WEB support/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the XP or Vista Windows version of the drivers you require and install them. Use this link to download the drivers: - http://h18000.www1.hp.com/cpq-country/cpq_support.html
GO TO THE HP WEBSITE WHICH NOW OWNS COMPAQ AND GO TO THE DOWNLOAD SOFTWARE AND DRIVERS SECTION. IF YOU DONT HAVE IT INSTALLED ALREADY THEY WILL TELL YOU TO INSTALL A VERY SMALL PROGRAM WHICH WILL SCAN YOUR PC AND THEN IT WILL TAKE YOU TO A PAGE THAT WILL SHOW YOU ALL THE DRIVERS FOR THE HARDWARE YOU HAVE INSTALLED ON YOUR PRESARIO.
Most likely you have a SATA drive which windows is not detecting. Restart the setup and press F6. You will need to use another system to download the SATA drivers and save to a disk. Then when prompted you can insert the disk. You can also upgrade to XP professional which will almost always recognize the SATA drives. Good Luck.
I understand that you are unable to install Audio drivers in your Notebook.
This model of Presario has an audio controller that supports the high definition audio. You need to have Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver for High Definition Audio installed on the computer before installing the audio driver.
