Mine had the same problem. it got better after diluting my gas mixture. it is supposed to be 40 to one ratio. I added a little mor gas to the jug and it runs better now. Bottom line is the mixture has to be right on. Too rich will give you the problem you mentionned. not rich enough might burn out the engine.

You may have a weak fuel pump diaphram in the carb. It may be a partially pluged fuel line in the
tank. It may also be a pluged muffler. Good luck.

I have the same problem. Can't find my manual to look up trouble-shooting guide. Did following, but same symtom after:
1.) Clean air and fuel filter
2.) Replace gas lines with "tygon" tubing; check for kinks in gas lines.

1.) Runs good for about 20 seconds then dies slow death. Starts and idles good.
2.) Air bubbles in primer squeeze bulb.
3.) Gas tank is pressurized.

My next trial and error mission:
1.) Fresh gas and oil mix.
2.) Remove gas and oil filters for bench test
3.) Replace primer tube (it is smaller than gas tube) so I cut ends and re-used old.

If you have pin-pointed the problem let me know. It sure seems like gas starvation.

Starts fine.idles fine, when you get to 3/4 throttle it dies out

Check the fuel filter, air cleaner, and muffler for plugging. Check the fuel lines for decay or other damage. Make sure the carburetor is tight to the engine. If the H jet needle has a 'D' head, you will need to take the saw to an authorized service center as it requires a special 'D' screwdriver that only they have. If the jet has a slot head, then turn the jet CCW until the engine 4-strokes at speed unloaded, but immediately 2-strokes when cutting. Hope this helps!

Chainsaw idles but bogs out and dies when given full throttle.

First thing,
Check the air filter, once checked, & clean/replaced,
Adjust timing.
This is a very easy job to undertake on small petrol engines.
1: adjust the gap between the contact & the magneto,
2:Or adjust the space on the tip of the plug.
So simple.
& don't forget to rate:)!

Husky 455 dies out at full throttle or under load

Your carb may be the issue but your ignition coil could be the culprit. Once they start going bad, they can act up intermittently or give various symptoms from day to day. The fact that your saw dies at full load or under load, probably means that when your saw gets hot or requires more spark, your coil is not able to provide it. Your carb is easy enough to clean out, you can take it all apart and clean all screens, etc....

I just replaced my coil due to the exact same symptoms and now my saw runs great. $60 off ebay and you can put it on in 15 minutes yourself. Check your carb first though

The carb low idle needs to be adjusted this is fairly common among the Poulan chain saws. Once you adjust the low idle from factory setting it will work
