A little patience is needed to replace this, but not terrible hard, youll need to remove the spring clamp holding it to the front panel(peeling back from just at the face youll see it will pop right off, then after that s removed there is another clamp in about hte 2 o;clock position that also needs to be removed, either a phillips, or a 9/32 socket, the new gasket will need to be stretched back over the inner tub rim andtightened( this will take patience as there is not a lot of hand room, and just like changing a bicycle tire as a kid , the rubber will have a tendency to "pop" of the rim until its fully on.

My washer has a mildow smell and my clothes smell musty, especially towels!

This is a comin in all front loaders. It it caused by two things not using HE soap and keeping the door closed when not using it. The only way to get rid of the smell is to run 3 to 5 cycles with bleach and no clothes or use a washer cleaner. Most large hardware stores carry them. Once the smell is gone be sure to leave the door open when you are not using it and wipe out the gray boot(gasket/seal) after using.

How do I stop my Kenmore front loader from leaking around the door. I have a Kenmore HE 2plus front loader

If this is a Kenmore FRONT LOADER you need to remove the lower toe panel directly below the door to inspect the cabinet interior for the source of your leak. The following link explains:

The most common source of leaks on a front loader is the rubber door bellow. The bellow can develop cracks, rips or tears with age and needs to replaced. The following link explains how:

If you have any questions about this repair, please let me know so that I may be able to provide you with better assistance. I hope this helps you.

I opened the door on my he2 plus 1104751 and a large retain type wire with a spring was there. I assume this goes around the tub seal to hold it on tight?

Yes, it is used to secure the bellows (door side) of the gasket to the cabinet. If the loop is still intact, you can use a pair of needle nose pliers to reinstall the retaining wire onto the gasket.

If the wire loop is broken, you'll want to get a replacement ASAP to prevent leaking and to prevent damaging the gasket too. They're available from searspartsdirect.com or you can check for a local parts supplier if you wish.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

My front loading Kenmore H2 has a torn gasket.

You will have to take the door apart to get the gasket mounted properly. Although not required, a second pair of hands really helps.
