Your TV has a power supply board and inverter board. The inverter board provides the supply to the small lights around your screen which make it bright so that you can see the image. When the voltage of this inverter goes higher than normal, there is a feedback signal that is fed to thepower supply section that shuts down your TV. Sometimes there are solder connections on the inverter board that become loose due to the heat generated by the coils(small ballasts). Resoldering them would fix the problem. If checking it visually doesn't show any loose connection, the next step is to replace the inverter board.

Have it checked by a qualified repairman.

    id look in the  area of the large signal board
    that will be the one with the flyback and power supply and deflection circuits on it  to your right

    flybacks are known to fail on these models as well as a high voltage leak
    was the set popping from time to time ?

    else

    When you turn your set on can you feel any static electricity from the tube at all
    to repair an unit without schematic over it it like walking out in the deep forest without
    an compass/map try www.eservinfo.com search for the model/brand maybe you can find
    it there...

    Most common is bad solderings around the high voltage transformer and the surrounding components can lead to shorted H.O.T the transistor who "feeds" the
    transformer one tip when you work with this kind of things keep one of your hands on your back ! otherwise you can lead the voltage/current thru you heart

    Bad solderings come with the time the machine heats up cools down vibrations etc
    sooner or later you will find cracks around the component legs/pads like an "o" but very faded

    I will tell you a rule of thumb about something being worth repairing;
    First it does not matter how old is it unless the CRT shows burned or the picture being washed out.
    Second look at how much it will cost the repair versus replacing it by a new one.
    Third most repairs should carry a 3 months guaranty.

    Now, your TV is energizing the relay (that is the clicking sound) as it was said it could be the 'high voltage shut down' circuit that is activating the power shut down or the HVSD could be ativated by an overload some where in the power supply or the HV horizontal if it is a CRT type. If you don't have the schematic is going to be guessing. You should get a free estimate from a repair shop.

    The highest CCFL inverter supply that I have seen it had 830 Volts, the big majority are around 350 V.

May be due to the improper supply of current,may due to the circuit board compliant,may due to the damaged input cables,due to some problem with the displaying device,burnt off capacitors etc.try to check it.thank you

That's probably a bad inverter. I can't remember if the inverter is available seperate or if it's part of the panel though

    this can be one of the inverters, a failed CF lamp or the panel itself doing this - i threw 3 of these in the trash this week for bad inverters because philips will not offer any support for there own products

    they are "throw away" cheapo units unless you have another bad one with a different problem you can salvage from.

If the screen says no signal, check the video input cable.

If the screen is totally black but you are getting sound then the problem is with the Digital processing board or LCD controller and its has to be repaired. I am sending the link for parts list and place from where you can repair.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, lets try determining which is at fault.

  • power supply (unlikely) - the unit powers up, there is audio;
  • logic/controller board (unlikely) - presumably the remote works, you can change source/input and again presumably the controls work, channel up/down, volume up/down;
  • LCD screen (possibly, but rarely) - will have to be determined later;
  • CCF Lamps (backlights) and/or inverter (most likely) - a check; power on the unit, run through the routine, change channels etc. with a flashlight shine obliquely against the screen, increase/decrease the volume level. Shine the flashlight where the volume level/indicator is normally displayed. If with the use of the flashlight a darker semblance of the volume level could be seen, then you have just confirmed that it is either the CCFL or the inverter and definitely not the LCD screen.
Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

Model 32ld452c. Why is there a black screen and no sound?

Sounds like main digital board fault. These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

My tv has sound, but no picture. When I turn it on the blue light blinks eight times and the screen is black. What is wrong?

Hi Tammy,
Please check the INPUT of your TV by pressing INPUT, SOURCE or TV/VIDEO on your TV remote. Once you press one of those ( that was on your TV remote ) you should have INPUT lists on your TV screen. All you have to do is select each one on the list until you get a picture ( normally input is TV ). Hope it helps.

My Coby LEDTV 1926 blinks red, green, blue, white, and black. Is there anyway to fix this?

Sorry I can't help, but mine does the same thing sometimes. It'll work fine for awhile, then no picture, but goes crazy and flashes one color at a time across the whole display, very brightly. I have it connected to RCA inputs, so I don't know if it would happen using the antenna input, but based on your experience, I suspect it would. I never got around to calling tech support, and my return period ends in two days, so it's going back to the store tomorrow.

LG 47LC7DF Green Light Blinks 16 Times - No Picture or Sound

Well dont keep it on!

By running it after it shutdown and it finally did its last pop that added another $XX to the parts bill.

The control boards (2) have now failed There are burned Capacitors ( pop!) and possibly even a few transistors burned out. This is not a DIY it is a Tech job as once changed these boards require additional tuning of the convergence factor.

My television screen went black, but there is has sound

Make sure your tv is on the right input first of all. The newer flat panel lcds combine the componenent video (red , blue, green) with the composite video and audio (yellow, red, white). If your tv is on the component input then you hear audio from the composite input since the audio inputs (red, white) are shared. Look for a source or tv input button on your remote or the tv itself and try pressing this button unti you see a picture with sound.
