My PC has XP Home OS. I have not tried "Defender" I took it off a long time ago, but I will try it and see if this solution works.
Hoping not to have to reinstall OS. Thanks!

Thanks for the info about using v16 powertools. I tried it but unfortunately it did not help with the install of office 2007.
I guess when time is available I'll have to reinstall the xp from scratch. I hate that, what a time waister. Thank you again, and if you think of anything else that might help me I will try it.

Use this program to clean registry & uninstall leftover components. Make sure you keep a back-up first (this will be prompted). Use aggressive mode to thoroughly clean. Reboot, reclean registry again. Reboot, the try re installation process.

Do you have a previous version of Office installed? Are you getting any error codes? Did you use aggressive mode with JV16?

the best thing "try to reinstall ms office" because of "a problem during install", and while installing new one make sure of "customized install" process. Again if you got the same, try to use "specify" the log file "error message", I do wait for your reply.. have fine

MS Office 2007 Enterprise installation setup error

Hi, this may not help you because I do not have the exact error you described. But here is some text from the MS website:The installation of the 2007 Microsoft Office suite Service Pack 1 (SP1) fails with error 1935 or with error 78F. This failure occurs when the Windows Installer encounters a reference either to a drive that no longer exists or to a removable media device that contains no readable media. For example, this failure may occur when the Windows Installer encounters a reference to an empty DVD drive or to an empty CD drive. The issue is not caused by the update design of the 2007 Microsoft Office suite Service Pack 1 (SP1). RESOLUTION loadTOCNode(1, 'resolution'); This issue is resolved by update 946691 for the 2007 Office system. No Has Been Able To Solve This Office 2007 Pro Problem, Can You?

Hi,
The problem is the feature you tried istalling might have corrupted the OS. What you can try doing is create new user account first , restart your computer into the new user computer and then try installing. If the same still doesnot work , then my friend the only solution would be to reinstall windows xp and then put office 2007.

Thanks
proton

Office 2007 Install Problems

It can be very aggravating to reinstall Office; you probably need to use the free removal tool that Microsoft provides for situations like yours. It may have nothing to do with Office 2007 and everything to do with whatever else you added via Add/Remove Programs. My best advice is patience; Office12 is huge, and takes a long time to put all its junk in there; Microsoft will walk you through it if you have patience with their tech support folks and time to wait on hold to reach someone. The good news is they get paid to sit with frustrated folks like you. If you can be more sprcific what the error message(s) say(s) that will help whomever could help you get to the root cause of your issue(s).
