I have never had a problem with my xbox DVD drive but a close friend of mine has had 2 xboxs that he has had to replace the disc drive 2 times each the only thing he could do to play a game before fixing was to just keep opening and closing the drive until it finally read the disc luckily he only plays COD so he just left it on 24/7 until repairs could be done
yeah, you can keep opening and closing it till it works or you can send it in to get it repaired. i tried every way possible to fix it, but i couldnt. something in the dvd drive has gone out and won't read discs the same anymore.
Disc Error :- I have the same error. You can do 4 things.
You have to keep turning it on and off. Here's how... Turn it on, then
click open tray then close tray ( keep opening and closing tray about
10 times) then turn the console off. Then keep repeating process for
about 15-20 minutes and eventually the game disc will show up. ( I have
to do this every time)
B) Make sure that this is covered by
Microsof't's RROD warranty. Then some how get teh red rings on this
console and send it to Microsoft. (Note: I am not held responsible for
C) This is a lens problem. So go out to a store
and buy a DVD lens cleanser. It's a disc that cleans the lenses of the
DVD or the XBOX.
D) Open it up and replace the lens (like the above guy said) (much harder and more costly).
Getting to the dashboard screen is a good thing but still cannot rule out a bad circuit board or power supply.
All the symptoms point to a bad DVD drive but the opening/closing by itself do indicate a problem with the microprocessor.
Can you turn the power on and off with the small button?? If not, would definitely suspect bad board.
