Question about GE Profile JTP18 Electric Single Oven
My oven shuts off during preheating or during baking time and the door locked light flashes. Wiggling the door lock will shut off the light but the oven needs to be re-started and it has happened several times in a row by itself-no bumping of the lever or walking near it.
I have not hit hit the self-cleaning buttons by accident. It just happens and is very frustrating. I can't leave the kitchen when cooking.
I believe there are two reasons for this model to shut off during bake and reheat. One is the lock as mentioned and the other is the master control board. The control board was faulty in my situation and was replaced (under warranty thank goodness). But even with a new control board - the problem occurred. The tech from GE explained there is a faulty design with the actual connection between the control board and the oven itself so he had to hard wire the control board instead of using the plug in connectors. Just a note that the communication from the lock goes through the control board so what may seem a lock issue could still be the control board. The lock and swtich are mechanical - they just send a signal to the board itself. If the board is faulty, a new lock won't do much to solve the problem. Thanks for the feedback from others.

That's awesome! I just found this site on Christmas day minutes away from family arriving and I had exhausted the manual for help. Under the troubleshooting section of the manual it lists "door Locked" light blinking as a problem with the only solution being - "shut the door." With three dishes in the oven that didn't help!
I took the advice of the site and wiggled the actual door lock on the inside of the oven and that didn't work right away either.
I had to trick the oven into thinking the door was shut by pressing the sensor on the right hand side in and then turn on the oven cleaning cycle with the sensor held down. After the lock activated and moved across with the door open, I had to hold down the door unlock feature and wiggle the lock as it unlocked. A little more complicated, but none the less it worked!
It must be a sensor inside the locking mechanism that isn't reading the lock being open - or something...
