If it hums when the unit is off:

Its probally one of two transformers. Remove both screws holding bottom metal plate under filters. Locate both transformers, put your hand on each transformer to see if hum stops, if so just pry on it a bit until hum is isolated.

1-transformer back left, and one toward the front with yellow/blue wires coming out.

If it hums with unit on high speeds: its air leaking, it will take fairly long time to find.

If the problem is only when the fan is off, its definetly the transformer. The problem is the weight of the transformer vs metal used to fabricate the whole hood.

1.remove filters + 3-5 to five screws retaining the metal cover plate where the motor is.

2.You will see a transformer to your right if you only have one motor, if you have two motors, the transformer should be located back left. Its a square metal casing with reflective vinyl sides and many wires coming out of it.

    3. Try prying the transformer a tad to either side(bend it) until sound is as quiet as possible.

Weather dropped to around 20 degrees F, the washer fluid is empty. the car is off, key out of the ignition, but there is a steady humming noise coming from under the hood.

Hi there is a very small fuel powered webasto heater under the bonnet that could be making the noise that is circulating and heating the engine coolant to ensure a first time start and quick interior heater response this will operate at a pre set minimum temperature or you can set it to come on
at a higher temp if you like your heater toasty on a not so cold day
however this does run off the fuel in your tank

42" Allure II Broan Range Hood I put a new bulb to replace

Get two new bulbs and install them. These bulbs are exposed to a lot of heat above the stove and the filaments get brittle. I suspect that the filament on the bulb that still worked broke when you were screwing it out or back in. good luck. please rate my answer. thanks noreen.

Can not get halogen bulb out of my kennmore elite range hood

You will have to do the following steps.

1. remove filters
2. Unscrew 2 screws retaining metal plate under the filters.
3. Now you must remove the whole light panel. 5 screws in all, three under the front lip and two at both back ends of the same panel.
4.You now unhook the light wires (plastic connector with two wires)

Now you have the whole pnale in your hands. Unclip the socket of "problem side" and unscrew the socket from the bulb. Re-do steps 4.3.2.1
