Monitor will not power on

I think I had a lighting strike close to the house. Since then, I have not been able to power the monitor on at all. I have also took it to a friends house to see if it would work. It would not. I think it totally dead. Any solutions or is it worth fixing. I have only had it for I year.
Thanks for any help

I have two Westinghouse LCM-22w2 monitors and they are both dead. They will not power on at all. I sent one back while it was under warranty because it would not power up and they sent me a new one which is now dead as well. They are both now outside the warranty. I have learned my lesson, let Westinghouse stick to power plants because they stink at making electronics.

I think your power supply has gone out. Its not worth replacing unless its a really high end model

Check if warranty is still available. otherwise there is no way to fix it.

HP L1908W When i turn on the monitor, it turns on for 1 second and goes off.. Can u tell me whats wrong?!? i think maybe the inverter... Thanks, faisca

First use an external light sorce like a LED flash light. With it close to the screen do you see a light ghosty image of the desktop?

If you do then either your backlight's or backlight power circuit have failed. If the monitor is not under waranty some repair shops may be able to fix the problem.

If there is no image then the LCD is not conecting to the main board and the monitor will need to be replaced.

If you want futher details on the first instance contact me

Monitor comes on and goes right to a black screen like the power was turned off but the power light is still green.

hi,
You have to check the back light of your lcd monitor. All lcd screen have a back light to illuminate the pixels. you can conform is the back light is faulty or not by watching the lcd screen nearby. Watch can you see any image (negative image) on the screen. you have to look very closely. if you see any image on the screen then the back light or the back light inverter is faulty.

You have to check the back light inverter board. Normally in lcd monitors you can see three circuit boards. power supply, mother board, and the inverter board. If available then try to replace the inverter board. There are high voltage transformers in this board. There is a chance for its winding get short. You will not get the transformer in open market. Try for the inverter board .
ok

Monitor goes into instant power saving mode and will not display a picture

I doubt the monitor is the problem. I think your pc is not booting up and sending a signal to the monitor and it goes into that mode because of no signal.
Try a different monitor if you can or take your monitor to a friends house to try it on a different pc.

Monitor turns off after 2secs power light on

Oct 23, 2009- This is how it went for me..I have a Samsung SYNCMASTER2.gif 2053BW. I leave my monitor on and let it hybernate when I shut down PC. I'm 3 months outside of my warranty. Two weeks ago something started happening. I boot PC and video doesn't come up for 10 minutes, and when it came up it worked perfect. VC/Monitor/MB?? It became 20 minutes and ...now..I have the analog/digital box in top left screen, power light on monitor flashing, no menu available on monitor and none of the other buttons work for anything. I test the monitor on Laptop..nothing(same as above)..I break out the old(working) monitor from deep within the closet. Plug it in and I'm up and running. So...

HOW TO OPEN A SYNCMASTER 2053BW

NO SCREWS!!! Assuming that the stand mount has been pulled out..The seam around the screen frame is where you start. The frame has the prongs, the back cover has what the prongs slip over. The frame is coming off first! I got the side to open by finger, then used a small standard screwdriver to pry ever so gently(lifting frame from rearcover). Leave the power button assembly on the frame, pull wire only a little to relax any tension..you get about 3/4" in extra taped to panel. The hard part is done.;) Still holding the frame...Now lift the panel (where the power button assembly wiring goes under panel) with the power housing that is under it as a whole and you will see where the powerbuttonassemble detaches.Remove frame. Now..holding edges of panel into back cover, lift and flip the whole thing over and place panel face down on a perfectly flat surface..a towel on my desk works. Lift and remove back cover.Your now looking at the back of the board housing. The ribon is simple, on the panel end of the ribon, squeez the outer clips together and slide it away against the panel..The secondary tin plate is removable, two clips super close to where the sets of wires come around the housing and into the panel.Unhook the 4 plugs(pink inside/blue outside)...Now lift the power housing off of the panel. The big board has the power. One screw to remove a ground plate first. Two screws to remove power board. Pics from phone.56ec44b.jpg

Reassemble but DO NOT re-snap the frame into place....yet... Test it! There is a reason the caps got hot in the first place, therfore it has a good chance of happening again. This is not fullproof...but.....mine has been on now for close to 6 hours with no glitches whatsoever. So I have resnapped mine back together. I hope you can too. - I must also add that this is one of the best producing monitors I have ever seen...in 60hz. The clarity is top notch. If you purchase one get the extended warranty. FYI...I paid $4.00 for those caps. It sounds like this is very common with SyncMasters.

Monitor starts to come on and then goes to sleep. This started after a lightning strike very close by as I was shutting down the computer.

I think the monitor curcuit board or the graphics card has been badly damaged. Chek both or to do it call support.

Have you tried to plug it in else where?
If you did and still same problem then from what you said I was hopping that it wouldn't be your problem, but you will need a new monitor.

does your monitor have an external transformer as the psu ?
If so, try disconnecting at mains for about 5 seconds and re-connect. failing that we'll need to dig deeper.
