Actually, what you're doing already clean up the data in memory.
If the memory still contain data, maybe there's something wrong with the printer.
Run a self test print whether the printer is okay or not,
Turn on the printer while holding down the LF/FF button or Load/Eject button. If it start print, that mean the printer okay. Press 'Pause' and turn OFF the printer and then turn On back to stop the self test printing.
