Question about Televison & Video

I have a new Mitsubishi LT14852 monitor. When I use Vista Media Center to play live TV the image is too big for the desktop. You cannot see the ticker at the bottom of ESPN. I am using an nvidia 9800 video card. I have tried all the setting option I know of. Thanks ghb

I have discovered the solution to the problem!!

In MS Media Center, once in live TV, if you right click on the screen a small menu pops up. One of the menu choices is"zoom." It offers 4 levels of "zoom." Once I cycled through the different levels it put the TV picture back to the correct size and everything is now visible!

    Shazam!

Thanks to those who offered suggestions! May we all learn together!

This is a problem that i have fixed before.

1. mess with the video settings by right clicking on your desktop and trying a few settings there. if that does nt work then
2. mess with the setting through your video card software.

if neither of the above work then i would start at the begining. uninstall the video card and download the newest drivers from the vidia site.

hope this helps.

Windows 7 Media center have multiple switches for customization.
Here is a list bellow.
/nostartupanimation stops the startup sound and Windows Media Center logo "pebble" going off into the distance /noshutdownui removes the "shutdown" item from the tasks menu /mediamode starts in media only mode (no close/minimize/maximize options in top right corner) /widescreen start in widescreen mode, even on 4:3 display (windowed only) /nochrome display windowed mode Media Center but without the window chrome /playallmusic plays all your music instantly /playfavslideshow plays your favorite slideshows only /playfavslideshowwithmusic plays your favorite slideshow with music /playslideshow plays all slideshows /playslideshowwithmusic plays all slideshows with music /screensaver starts the Media Center screensaver /configuress starts Media Center at the "configure screensaver" screen Examples: %windir%\ehome\ehshell.exe "/mcesuperbar://tv?live=true" – That will start Media Center in LiveTV mode
Yo can create custom shortcut by doing the following : Start > All Programs > Windows Media Center, and right click on it. Select properties. Under "target" you will see "%windir%\ehome\ehshell.exe".

How can i play AVI files on my media center/player on vista

Hi,
Windows Vista Media Center won’t play Xvid and Avi files, even if Windows Media Player will play these files. If you want to add support for third party codecs including Xvid and Avi files in Vista Media Center then you need to install the media control plugin for Windows Vista Media Center.
To install the Codec please click on the below link or copy the URL and paste it in your web browser..
http://damienbt.free.fr/index.php#download
This plugin allows Windows Vista Media Center to utilize te FFDShow decoder, which needs to be installed seperately ((FFDShow rev 1108 recommended: download the last version from http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow-tryout)) FFDShow adds support to Vista for MPEG-4 video formats like DivX, Xvid, H.264 and also alllows MP3, AAC, Dolby AC3, and OGG Vorbis audio files to be played back.
have any other queries, please let me know..
Thank you.....

BAD TV IMAGE WITH MEDIA CENTER.

Hello

Media center is highly graphic requirement programme, which requires amount display memory and display driver to function and display properly, you problem will be from the bad display driver, or no display driver at all. I donot know if your system has vga driver install if that is case you only need to install the driver to fix the problem. if you have it what you have to do is to remove the current one and install new one preparably download up to date driver from the hp website, check possibly for the virus activies in my thinking it was what cause to much cpu usage. Remember driver always works well with the type of OS develop for. Look for driver for the current type of OS you have

Thanks.
