Re: printing on 3x5 notecards.
Some printers have a slot in the exit tray to use for envelopes and cards, if yours does not it may not support printing of cards. Please provide the model number and/or check the HP website for information.

The paper settings in the print driver must match what is loaded in the product.
These changes do not change the default print settings. The print settings return to default the next time the program opens.
Open the document that you were trying to print when the issue occurred.
Click File , and then click Print . The Print dialog box opens.
Click the button that opens the Properties dialog box. Depending on the software program, the button might be Properties , Options , Printer Setup , Printer , or Preferences .
Click the tab that provides paper type and size settings. The tab might be Features or Paper/Quality .
From the Size is drop-down menu, select the paper size that matches the paper in the tray.
From the Type is drop-down menu, select the paper type that matches the paper in the tray.
Click OK , and then click OK again to print the document.

From the User guide: Select the appropriate options for your print job by using the features available in the Advanced, Printing Shortcuts, Features, and Color tabs. Tip You can easily select the appropriate options for your print job by choosing one of the predefined print tasks on the Printing Shortcuts tab. Click a type of print task in the Printing Shortcuts list. The default settings for that type of print task are set and summarized on the Printing Shortcuts tab. If necessary, you can adjust the settings here and save your custom settings as a new printing shortcut. To save a custom printing shortcut, select the shortcut and click Save. To delete a shortcut, select the shortcut and click Delete. 6. Click OK to close the Properties dialog box. 7. Click Print or OK to begin printing. The user guide link:http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00737535.pdfClick on this link or copy and paste the complete link into your browser. If I could be of further assistance, let me know. check document paper size, sounds like you have changed paper size on print driver but what of the document you are trying to print? what size is that? is it still letter or have you set page size also to 4 x 6
I found the fix!! Once you have your size settings typed into your page layout screen and applied to the document, click print. Once you select your printer, click on properties (or printer preferences) click on the features tab (the tab next to printing shortcuts) and go to the resizing options section. click on paper size bar and scroll down to custom. once in the screen, give the shortcut a name you'll recognize, type in your dimensions in the provided spaces click save. once you go back to the features screen, scroll back down to custom and select your shortcut that you just created and apply it to both the paper type and paper size. click ok and go back and click ok to print! Hope this makes sense..if not, go to HP's website and type in your product name, type paper mismatch in the keyword search bar and click ont the first link in the found section. It will give you the same step by step instructions....
