Question about GE A730 Digital Camera

1 Answer

GE A730 takes picture on startup, then responds to NOTHING.

Hi I have a simple GE A730 7.0 MP that is less than a year old. I think this model is a cheapie that has been rebranded several times. I lent mine out to a friend for a meeting and since it came back, it takes a picture while it is starting up and then sits unresponsive. No buttons work except for the power button. Bizarre as heck.

Anybody have a similar experience?
Thanks
J

There's a problem with this model, I have one. Send back to GE, and they fixed it. Talk to a Techie online @ GE, and they will tell you to return it. It will cost you postage.

Ok, my GE A730 7.0 MP was connecting perfectly with my pc, uploaded pics fine. Now, all of a sudden, it cannot find my camera. What's up with that? Help please.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

My camera keeps saying write protect when i turn it on... i can't take pictures or delete old ones... how do i take it off?

Check the Memory Card. If it's SD so there is a switch of left side. Push the switch up and check again.

Why are there lines on my picture?

It has a shutter problem. The damage could be some dust particles between the shutter blades or the flex connector broken. Cleaning or otherwise replacement of lens unit will be the solution. It will be the camera technician's job.

Horizontal lines appear on screen when picture is taken on my GE A730 digital camera

Hi

Sounds like the aperture of your lens is stuck open and overexposing the images. Try taking a picture in very bright light like outdoors, is it completely washed out? Now take another picture indoors in much less light, is it NOT washed out but has the lines?

From our experience repairing cameras this is the lens aperture and the lens must be replaced.

Good luck

Thomas
